e-brake light

the car i have is a '92 s13 w/ a sr20det motor. the problem is.....

so when the ignition is on, but the engine is not running the e-brake light works as it should. coming on when the e-brake is engaged and going off when disengaged.

but once the engine is running the light stays on no matter position the e-brake is in.

also, the light flickers while driving and seems to flicker along with how i move the gas pedal. and as it flickers there is a static like noise coming from under the dash more toward the side of the clutch pedal.

anyone got an idea cause i have been looking under my dash trying to figure it out.

I just had the problem with the static like noise coming from that area but both my brake and battery light would flicker when I heard this noise. It turned out to be my alternator which I swapped out yesterday and I haven't had one flicker or noise since. The brake light by itself could be your master cylinder low on brake fluid if you haven't already checked that.

yeah, the fluid was just under the full marker so i will fill it up but its been there before and never made this problem. i need to probably replace my alternator anyways, should have done it when i did the swap a long time ago.

I also had a tailight fuse go out around the same time so look into those too.

no progress. i have taken the gauge cluster out and drove around tryin to listen but i cannot figure it out

i fixed it! it was my 10amp eng cont fuse. it was blown out. i'm an idiot for not checking that before

same exact problem...except my idle set screw on the throttle body broke at the same time so i've been searching for posts about bad idle and buzzing sound plus brake light....

I never did find out what that buzzing sound was?

i think the buzzing is a rely not getting the correct voltage. they are know to do this sometimes.
