hey guys. new here... i post a bit over on zilvia but it's a bit rough over there. i had a quick issue i was hoping to get some help with. when i bought my pignose a couple weeks ago, the e-brake was completely useless. so i went to the junkyard and found an old coupe, replaced the cable. sure enough, still useless. so, i found an old automatic hatch (thinking that since it was auto, the cable wouldnt have been as "used") and lo and behold, nothing! the thing is, when i have someone pull the brake while i'm looking at the caliper, it doesn't even look like it's moving more than a mm or two, but at the handle, it feels tight. I'm thinking that the cable are stretched but really? 3 different e-brakes with stretched cables? i know the parts are in properly, the install was VERY straightforward, is there anything else i should be looking at? does anyone know where to find the cables new?

thanks for the help guys.

i didn't post in the "new here" thread because i do'nt feel this is a simple "what's better, the KA or SR?" type question.

hmmm. if that's the case, and you already replaced the cables that attach to the calipers, then i'd say that the cable that attaches to the handle needs to be investigated.

well, no. i haven't just replaced those cables. i've actualy replaced the whole ebrake unit (handle and all) so i can't make that distinction 100%

if only the spring on the caliper is only moving mm's, its clearly a locked caliper.. happened to me. It feels tight because the brake screw(whatever) inside not going anywhere.

" (thinking that since it was auto, the cable wouldnt have been as "used")" when the cable isnt as "used" thats when it tends to seize.

i'd better be more specific. when the brake handle is down, the little "cylinder" at the end of the cable is LOOSE, it's like an inch away from the "C" shaped mouth where it sits. when i pull the handle all the way up, it's still only enough to move the spring by maybe half a centimeter.

the cable is not seized as i checked it before i installed it.

thanks for the welcomes guys! yeah i posted a couple simple questions on zilvia and got nothing but "supid noob!" and the like. i'm nowhere close to a noob, sorry zilvia.
