Is anyone else having this problem? Since I bought the car 2 months ago, everything has been great, but there is a LITTLE RED light beaming in my face every time i drive and its starting to get annoying because i cant seem to figure out how to get it to shut off. The ebrake light just wont go out, I know my friend cory has the same problem in his 89 hatch too and i have a 92 hatch. any clues, even if its just pulling the pod and removing a light, would be great

thanks!

Just take off the console portion that goes around the ebrake. The sensor attaches directly to the brake. It is very easy to get to. If you cant get the light to go out by screwing around with it, then I would reccomend clipping the sensor off, and if the light is still on, then solder the two wires together, since the switch is simply an on/off device. Then you will never have problems but ur light will not work. The light is useless anyway imo. Whatever works for you though.

The brake light will also go on if your brake fluid is low. Just thought I'd mention that.

well i just flushed my brake system and put new fluid in it when i did my brakes. so that cant be the problem, and there is only 1 wire going to my brake switch under the console, when i flick the switch, it isnt stuck, but the light just doesnt want to go out. I have a spare gauge cluster here, ill see if the light can be removed easily

the e-brake light? Its completely cable actuated.... so what would brake fluid have to do with it?

It's overloaded functionality. It is also used to check that your brake fluid is not low/working.

Don't believe me?

Observe the brake master cylinder, there is a 2 wire plug there.

Drain your fluid to around MIN or a little below - or even just push the floating device so it activates the switch.

Look at the cluster - "e-brake light" is on - I believe this is w/ the car in the ON position or once you start the car or something - been a while.

As for the cable actuated part, so that didn't help you when you checked it MeanGreenS13? It's a grounding cable, so if you remove it from the ebrake, the light should be off. If it stays on, the problem is further up the line - i.e. it may be getting grounded out somewhere else along the wire.

electrical tape is also ur friend, haha.

You can always completely re run the wires heading to the cluster.

You're gonna find a lot more of those "little annoying things" w/ 240's. Have fun.

dont do that, would be a waste of time, if the rest of the brake system is fine(mc, etc), just do what I said about taking only the armrest portion of the console off, and clip the sensor on the ebrake, and if its still on, solder the two wires together. If your problem is not solved, you might have a real brake issue

The hatch looks so much sexier with the widebody kit. I am trying to talk my wife into letting me get another 240sx this time a hatch! I love my S14 but damn a 180 with widebody!
