What is the difference between the two blocks?

The reason I ask?

I want to get a bottom end to build and am finding it easier to find DE long blocks than E. I know that the Pistons are different from the DE to E but are the rods and block the same?

Oil squirters. That is it as far as I know. I know the heads are interchangable, so long as you change some of the timing gear too.

So do you think I could use the DE block and E head and rods with E pistons

Yes, you would also have to use the timing cover from the E, which may not feed the squirters if there are not passages. Why not just use the DE?

piston oil squirters are in the rod so de rods in an e will msake oil squirters if you use de bearings.

also the only piston difference is de's have a bigger dish on top

Oil squirters are connected to the block under the cylinders...

I was going to say it if you didn't. I have seen mine, and they are not on the rod.

I know the oil squriters are in the block. Are the E and De rods both full floaters?

my bad. i have seen squirters in the rods of some engines where the oil comes from the crank and con rod bearings and shoots up at the cylinder / pistons. i have yet to take a de apart yet so i assumed they were that way too, sorry
