Did they check your Timming to see if it was right?

that seems low for stock boost on an RB20? What would you expect it to be? I was thinking that was probably what would be expected for a close to stock RB20.

If that is low, I am wondering what my RB25 is going to dyno at. I have similar mods, and the FMIC will happen soon.

rb20's put out 220 at the crank on stock boost, exaust, and smic, he has a fmic, 3" exhaust, and stock boost, and no cat, just seem low, i would expect that to the wheels on a "stock" rb20 ...

im also interested in what my rb25 will produce with fmic, 3" n1 duals, high flow cat, and stock boost...

yeah the numbers seem a bit low....

i made 176RWHP on mine and i have stock intercooler, bov, stock 240sx exhaust, stock boost...

i expect atleast 20HP gain from aftermarket exhaust and intercooler..hmm

Its should be near 200hp stockish and with those mods it should be damn close to 200 or over it. Remmeber the skyline had a 38hp drivetrain loss with a longer driveshaft, You should see less of a loss with less travel path.

make sure timing is at 20btdc not 15. 15 is for the automatics.

I would like to see the A/F too. You said it was running rich but how rich? off the charts? lower than 10? or just in the 11's?

I would think it would put down 200-210 maybe with those mods but if it's running too rich and the timming is off then it would read out those #'s.

Yeah stock is 10 lbs or so. For reference, I have stock downpipe, gutted stock 240 cat, 3" catback, fmic, and a pod filter and my boost gauge reads around 12.5 psi WOT until higher rpms then it drops down to around 10. That's with no boost control of any kind, so you should probably be seeing about the same.

Might be some pressure loss across the IC, not sure where boost is measured. Probably once the timing is corrected it'll be just fine.

damn i ran 195.6 HP at the wheels with a FMIC 10 psi (stock boost on my current setup for some odd reason) and a straight piped cat (2.25 exhaust) with my SR20...i think u would be making a bit more power with those mods of yers =(

what gas are running on that setup??? what size turbo was on the RB20?? wasnt it a T04?? somethings wrong there mate

glad to see some dyno numbers, thx for spending the time and $$ to test it out for us. But its a blow towards my RB vs KA-T decision. If your making 189 at 10-12 psi with 6 cylinders i just dont know what to say. Lots of KA24DET guys are at 300+hp with 10-12 psi.

There should be a lot more power in your RB20 thats still not coming out yet for some reason, timing or fuel probably.

I'd love to see the power curves, i bet they're sweet.

ITS NOT THE TRUE NUMBERS.... THERE IS QUITE ABIT MORE POWER LURKING IN THAT MOTOR THAT'LL COME OUT AFTER SOME FINE TUNING.

What kind of dyno was it? That's important.

ONE THING I NOTICED IS THAT THE WALBORO FUEL PUMPS MAKE THE CARS RUN EXTREMELY RICH OFF THE STOCK INJECTORS. I GET FIREBALLS FROM THE TAILPIPE BETWEEN SHIFTS.

You can never compare the 2 at the same boost levels. He has a stock turbo, while the Turbo KA's don't have stock turbo's. If you want more RB20 dyno check the Skyline down under forums. Most of them pull 170kw to 200kw to the wheels. When he changes the stock turbo out and gets it tuned right compare #'s then.

yeah i am running rich around 10.5 a/f ratio. I heard that you can get around 25-30HP extra just for tuning a the rb20det into the 12.5 a/f range....yes my car is running extremley rich too.

ya i think you need to tune, get new plugs, time, get air/fuel controller and you should get around 225HP or more to the wheels up the boost to around 13psi then you will get around 250HP to the wheels for sure.

also i boost about 11psi at WOT with my side mount intercooler without a boost controller (stock boost)

If the car was dynoed at Dyno works chances are there was no fan blowing on the intercooler either.

damn, my rb put down 179whp.thats on a mustang dyno.so that equates to a 215 - 15% drive train loss is around 183.that running smic, 10psi, and stock timing, stock dump pipe.not to mention it was leaning out under boost.as we added fuel it keept making more power.

Fireballs are cooool, but why do you think it's the Walbro? Maybe your pressure regulator is stuck? Or do you think the regulator is too small?

Anyone running with an aftermarket regulator?

I'M BASING THIS OFF MY SR EXPERIENCES. IN MY CASES I'M GET ALOT OF MID-SHIFT BACKFIRES WHICH ARE A COOL LIGHT SHOW BUT IT GETS IRITATING WHEN YOU CAN FEEL THE FLAME TRAVELING DOWN THE EXHAUST PIPING. I THINK JUST A FUEL TUNER AND INJECTOR UPGRADE WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM.

This always happens, a stock FPR is designed to work with a regular pump. The Walbro 255 will increase the flow and the stock fuel pressure will usually rise 3-5 psi.

YOU GUYS DO KNOW THAT YOU CAN INCREASE FUEL PUMP FLOW BY INCREASING VOLTAGE TO 18 RIGHT? ALMOST ALL FUEL PUMPS ARE DESIGNED TO WORK AT 18V BUT MOST CARS ARE ONLY 12 VOLTS..... BY UPPING THE VOLTAGE YOU WILL INCREASE THE FUEL FLOW. THIS IS A GOOD BIT OF INFORMATION FOR GUYS ON A BUDGET, I HAVE DONE THIS ON SENTRAS AND IT WORKS GREAT. YES, THE INCREASED FUEL FLOW INCREASES STATIC FUEL PRESSURES.

The kenne bell boost-a-pump does teh same thing, but can be adjusted..etc.
