I had my car dynoed about 6 years ago when I had originally installed my 4-way switched NICO ECU and it also seemed to fall off at stage 3. Stage 1 and 2 only changed with the RPM increasing to 7300 from 6900 rpm. I'm in Florida and was running 93 octane and it had new knock sensors, knock sensor harness and most all of the under plenum hoses had been replaced. I have since had it repaired due to water getting into my car and shorted it out. I have yet to have it dynoed since. How many miles are on your car? I'm at a little over 240k right now.

Sorry I was out for few days. The NICO ECU belongs to me and I bought it 4 years ago from a fellow NICO member.
The only issue I had with this ecu was when several months ago when the memory chip (daughter card) got "unseated."
The issue was fixed and many thanks to Wes and Shane. Shane reseated the chip and performed bench tests. But I never had a chance to dyno test.

I can feel the increase in power and many times I even switched it to stage 3. My Q and Chris are both serviced and maintained by the same shop (Carzone). So I know that his KS is in good working condition. This weekend I will have time to put the modded ecu back into my Q. See what happens...

Cheers,
Percy

Did you unplug the transmission control module to keep it in 3rd gear during the dyno? If the ECU sees knock, either from a bad sensor or actually having some knock, the retard is significant. On my car I saw a 50 hp difference between the stock ECU and a NICO stage 2 tune (stage 2 tune was 50 HP higher).
Are these Air/Fuel ratios being measured from the tailpipe or with a wideband in stock position?
So unplugging the TCM keeps the transmission in third gear, does this do anything else like prevent lockup?
What HP was your car reading stock with bad knock sensor with stock ECU?

The numbers I stated are the targets from ECU map, not measured in the exhaust. I thought the question was what the program was set to shoot for. Only saw about 170hp at the rear wheels with the stock ECU and bad knock sensors. My original stage 2 did have some knock sensor safety built in so I can't say what I'd have hit with good knock sensors. I hit a bit over 220 with my NICO stage 2.

My original ECU I purchased from Robert was one of the early models and was only a stage 2 model. I believe Robert did some tuning after I got mine. I've done a considerable amount of tuning on my turbo programs but not the NA tune. The one we load on the NICO ECU's is the same that Robert tuned years ago which I have not made any adjustments to.

I'm still unsure why it would max out at 6K rpm, that's strange. When I was still NA with my stage 2, if I used the gated shifter I could hit the rev limiter at 7200 any time. If left in drive it will shift when it wants to, down around 6900 I believe.

If someone can confirm which ECU this is and I've had it in my shop, I probably saved the programs and can double check to see how they compare to the current NICO tunes. If they are not the same, or appear to have a bug, I'd be happy to reprogram it for you. Just let Wes or myself know and we'll provide instructions on where to ship it. I recall one that I had to reseat the daughterboard on and I believe it was an older one that I did not originally program. Could have some older revisions of the programs on there.
