Would a dyno blow my engine on an 82 280zx?

I fail to see how it being a dyno has any difference. If you push the engine past it's limits, even revving in neutral, there is always a change you will blow the engine up.

yuppers, dyno is completely safe, no worse than running your car on the street with a bunch of weight in the back, the force fo the tiedowns compressing the suspension might be hard on an old clutch but otherwise just going 100 mph standing still (depending on what gear you pull in)

Um..... I'm kind of curious why you are worried about this.... Is there some problem with your car? Did someone tell you it would blow your engine if you tried to put it on a dyno?

You are putting a load on the engine, but it's not really all that different from a quick full throttle pull on the highway. So unless you have some major problem with your car, there shouldn't be any problem.

If it's an Automatic there might be a problem as they dont dyno easily but that's just a measurement issue, really has nothing to do with blowing anything.

you should not have a problem with dynoing your car. but keep this in mind, you have to fill out a waver just incase if your engine gives out, the shop takes no responsibilities. so before you go just do a quick check of fluids on your car(my l28 use to leak like no other) and go see what you Lseries can do...latervon

if there are any leaks, most places wont let you run on their dyno. Especially Fuel leaks. I had to fix one in the parking lot the day I took my car to the dyno, not fun.
