Got the car dyno'd yesterday, the numbers came up a little lower than expected (atleast horsepower did). After the first run the guy standing behind the car said he saw alot of black smoke followed by some white and said my turbo is most likely shot. Which isn't a big deal as I only got the dyno for a baseline before I install my new turbo in the next few weeks.

But the white smoke? Can a dying turbo attribute to that? I changed my headgasket with a stock one a few months ago so I hope it's not that.

Anyhow here are the specsCA18DET3" turbo back w/ testpipeStock turboStock airbox FMIC - ebay pips, johnny race car core, 8" x 3" x 24" (not sure on 24")Peak boost ~11psi

*Done on a Dynojet

I'm also hoping that the dying turbo could attribute to low horsepower number. A new turbo, injectors, maf and Nistune should be installed soon and hoping to see around 220-230 whp. If what I'm driving now only has 165, then 225whp should be plenty fun for me.

Horrendous boost spike. Something's not right there. You're wastegate actuator might be taking a crap on you.

That sounds about right though for really stupendously low air fuel ratios. I made 150.97whp and 164ft/lbs on a totally stock ca18det at 9psi with about an 8:1 AFR. Check to make sure everything is working, my o2 sensor wasn't getting power when I got those numbers.

hrmm that would confirm the black smoke, and all I am currently running is stock engine management, injectors and a 190lph fuel pump.
