So i got my car tuned on the 31st @ AMS, Chris did the tuning, it came to 292 hp 295 tq aprox. i was quite happy with the results, car drove home fine and everything was working great...last night i started it up and the afr was at a dead 10 and after the car warmed up then it started to slowly rise back up to about 14-15ish where it should be, i noticed that it's at +40 for lo throttle on the afc, isn't that extremely rich for idle, anyhow, i started it up again today and it was stuck on 10 again, even after it warmed up it didn't go down, so i took it around the block, it didn't even wanna go, everytime i tried to give it a little gas it was bogging but i finally started to get it to go and got it up to 3rd gear and it was reading normal afrs, and then i came to a stop sign and it went back down to 10 and i tried going after that and again bogging up until i actually starting going to about 25-30mph...i was gonna call AMS and talk to chris about it, see what was up but it's closed on the weekends so i'll just have to wait till monday, but i was hoping someone on here would possibly know how to help me out...i mean i don't wanna mess up the tune, before i had it set to +22 at lo throttle for idle and that kept me at about 15ish afr..i'm just not gonna drive it and just wait till monday...

I'm still super happy with the power it put down though, but am just worried now, help me nico!

DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THAT...

You'll wash the cylinder walls clean and scratch the piss out of them. I doubt Chris would set it like that intentionally. The low settings should be removing fuel right up to the point where boost comes in. So set the AFC to -50 atleast till 2100 rpm or so, then add some in slowly as boost comes on.

That should be a tad rich. Now I have absolutely no idea what you're car's AFR's are, so use this at your own risk. It should at the very least start and run better. But you need to get it tuned with a wideband O2 sensor or dyno ASAP.

i just did get it tuned with a wideband on the dyno by Chris at AMS on thusday, those are the settings he put in.

edit, also afr's @WOT are between 11.1-12 and driving home from the day of the dyno, the car drove fine and at cruise the afrs were at 14-15 around there.

What the hell? who ever did your tuning is on crack. Depending on what CC injectors your using you should be atleast -27% on the low throttle. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR! Your basically pouring fuel into the cylinders at that amount. The whole point of SAFC it to compensate for your bigger injectors. if you ran 370cc injectors you would run low throttle at -27% to have the same fuel as stock injectors. The bigger your injecters, the more you have to compenstate (the higher the negetive #). I think he might have got negetive and positive mixed up. Do you have a recirculated BOV because your decel settings are also screwed. I'd be running from theis chris guy and never looking back.

Hey I have a question for you,

After Chris tuned your car you said it ran fine for a while and now it's screwed up.

I see you are using the SAFC2, you do know that the SAFC2 has the option to switch between two differ maps.

Do you by any chance think you might have switched to your other map thats un tuned, cause it is kinda hard for me to believe that AMS did such a big owie on the tuning.

agreed, i think u may have switched to another map or they accidently switched it to another map cuz there's no way that they could have made that kind of power or u driving home without issues with such a fuel map. definitely do NOT drive the car. what do you have that's dealing with timing? if timing is taken care of, then u can adjust the safc while watching the wideband...........not too hard to do if u have a friend in the car.

Yea, it drove perfectly fine afterwards, i drove it home without a hitch, i didn't even get on it at all, just drove home normally...i didn't start it till the next day and that's when it started hesitating and bogging, i didn't even drive it anywhere except around my block which took a whole 30 seconds to do...i did not touch any settings at all, whatever there on, that's what there on.

No, i did not know that the afc has different maps, i'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to the afc, just the basics...but i didn't touch anthing.

I just don't get how i could drive home perfectly fine and then the next day it just starts giving tons of fuel and bogging out, i agree, it put down awesome numbers which i love and everything was going great, don't know why it's acting this way, just gonna have to get in contact with Chris and see what's the deal, maybe he can guide me through it...i don't have anything besides the jwt ecu which to my knowledge dealt with the timing accordingly, i could be wrong, before the tune that's how i adjusted the afc, i drove while a buddy of mine adjusted it, that's how it was running fine before, just not perfect. grrr

I also agree, i mean Chris knew what he was doing, i don't think he messed it up on purpose, i have yet to call him, at work till 3, but will after that.

Edit: I also trust Chris, I believe Turbo240 is one of our sponsors and he brings alot of knowledge to the boards, that's why i went to him to tune my car, for whatever reason i'm having problems, i'm not discouraged and neither should anyone else, i'm sure i'll have this problem solved after i talk to him.

I think its possible that it indeed did switch maps. A friend of mine said he had to send his afc back because it would switch maps automatically(ie hit a bump, turn the car off then back on). I also remember reading on another site about someone having similar problems. My friend was able to get his warrantied by the speed shop he purchased it from. This may not be the case but anything is possible.

Yah I would also definitely look into your wiring on the safc and see if by any chance you have anything loose on there. Cause after you posted those maps my jaw just flew off.

Why not just set both maps to the same thing? As long as you don't plan on turning up the boost.

Because if a faulty SAFC has the capability to just switch maps on him like that.

What says that one day it wont actually start messing with his map setting.

Would you like to drive around with a faulty piggy back that plays a big role in your driving?

Damn, that makes me kinda skeptical cuz im supposed to get a tune from AMS also, better just not ask for chris to tune it haha. This is kinda off topic but how long did it take to tune your car and how much did you end up spending cuz he told me it would take about an hour to do? Oh yea n how many psi of boost were you running for the tune?

It doesnt look like he touched the SAFC settings over 4k rpms, mabey he just did a cruising tune, and was expecting you to come back for the WOT tune? With 480cc injectors you would be close to -50 on most of your settings except on high throttle. It just looks like he droped the ball.. Try seeing if your second map is programed into your safc, and if it looks any better.

Also, do you have an VTA Bov? If so you need some dec air settings. I run my Sr at 5/10% and the majority of the stumbling is gone.

Once again, I am pretty sure AMS did not screw up his tune.

There is no way in a world Chris at AMS would let this guy drive off the dyno with that type of a map. I mean just look at that thing.

Also with a SAFC it should take about an hour to tune the car. As for their pricing I have no idea what they charge.

Anyways, DrifterXRPS13 hit me up on AIM at Pijaczek18, I live in IL as well, maybe I can meet you depending on where you live and see if I can help you figure something out. I work about 10 mins from AMS anyways.

I'm pretty damn good with the safc, so worst come to worst if you lost your tune we can get you a decent street tune done, take the car back to AMS let Chris know what happened and see where it goes from there.

I really don't know what their policy is on tuning and retuning but I'm sure they will be willing to work this out with you.

Just set the damn thing to the settings I gave you and see what happens. Then if it switches maps on you again, lose the AFC. Atleast this way you'll know the settings are what you entered, cause there is NO WAY in hell Chris set the AFC up that way.

This is so friggin simple to fix, not even any real need to keep discussing it. Change the settings and press on, it's either a good unit or a bad unit. Some how the AFC was setup incorrectly, or it switched maps or blah blah blah.

Chenage the settings, see if it runs, then see if the settings change at all. If it stayts stable, then retune it with a wideband or dyno.

WAs the safc in the car before you got to the dyno? Or did they install it.*IIRC* you got to initialize or do something so the settings don't change....Once it first receives power... So if he tuned it without letting it set-up and then he drives home fine..turns off the car and looses memory... but if anything it should of been all at 0....Don't got any kids that like to play with your car do ya???

I KNOW it wasn't tuned like that, it would have washed out your cylinders on the dyno and there's no way you would have made it back home, even if you live 5 miles away. Something happened, weather it lost KAM, switched maps, someone fumble fingered it of whatever it doesn't matter but Ray Charles wouldn't have put those settings in so you either have an issue with you safc or someone switched maps on you.

Wowsers!!!!!!

I leave for Canada for a couple of days and this is what happens!

First of all, its not listed, but the car has a JWT ECU, which is attempting to compensate for the injectors and MAF that he has. The Fuel tune is not dead accurate and does require those numbers for the low settings.

The settings he has are correct.

The car also has an idle issue which causes the RPMS to hunt all of the time uless you turn the headlights on and softly bring the rpms down to the idle RPM. When the car is hot, +40 is necessary, when the car is cold, obviously it doesn't like that too much. The car will run lean when it is at idle, hot.

Bring the 1000 Lo setting down to +19 and it should be a bit better for cold start.

AHH there is the key word JWT.

I was kinda wondering when Chris would chime in. But that explains a lot. So basically he had the proper tune already, he just wanted to fine tune it.

Thanks for clearing that up Chris.

so just adjust it like you said and it should be "fine"?

Yes, i was just "fine tuning" sorry for the confusion

Edit: Thanks for putting up my dyno chart, i got tired of trying to fix my scanner at home, damn thing. You the man Chris

Sorry, It's in my sig too oh well, i'll have to be more clear on that next time.

I believe it's 13-14lbs, no spiking

It's a recirculated BOV setup

I tried putting it down to +19 but it still wasn't good enough, so i just decided to keep going down until i felt it was right, so i got it down to +11 for 1000 and 1600 Lo. It's happy again, when it warms up however, i do have to put it back up because the afr's keep rising for whatever reason, but whatever, it works good now, i'll have to give it another test today after work and see if it's still good.
