OK, I know this guy who ran 5qts of oil in his KA-T vs the 4qts he should've been running the whole time. He never bothered to read the manual, he just assumed it was 5qts. Perfectionist in some things and totally ignorant on others...

Anyone care to guess how much power loss due to running an entire qt over spec?

Jesse

PS - That guy I know was me for 2yrs :) Haven't had any issues but I imagine it caused a bunch of carbon build-up.

I was supposed to dyno Sat. to see if there were any improvements by running just 4qts and Royal Purple but skipped it to prepare my 550ccs and Z32 MAF setup.

a little bit... SCC had a buildup where they accidentally had 7 or 8 quarts of oil in a B18 and they drained and refilled with the proper amount and gained like 15 hp...but with only one quart over, I'd think it wouldn't be too much.

I ran 3/4 to one quart over on my E36 M3 to help with oil starvation and couldn't notice any power difference.

It had a 7 qt capacity stock though, so YMMV. :)
