I have a unicorn! I have always been an avid user of cruise control. This system has made me NOT an avid user of cruise control... The original owner of my 2013 G37xS Coupe must have optioned it with EVERYTHING including interior wood trim. It's apparent he also loved the car and maintained it very well. Anyway, the system works as advertised. It will adjust speed based on the speed of the car ahead, with 3 distance options. It will decelerate quickly if a slower moving vehicle cuts in front of you, and open up to your set speed if the road is wide open. What I don't like is if you are following another vehicle at their speed, it feels jerky. It's not a pleasant feeling. Not many people actually use CC, and their speed will vary wildly depending on hills, curves, or they're just distracted like many drivers tend to be. On the mostly Toyota vehicles I have owned in the past, the CC is controlled by a stalk at about the 4:30 position on the back of the steering wheel, and is just off or on. "On" when my lane is clear, "off" when a jackass is too slow or cuts in front. Manually controlled. The dumb brain of the auto cruise is constantly adjusting to the speed of the car ahead, and just jerks between accelerating and decelerating, and it just feels like it's bad for the car. Like if you were constantly hard on and off the accelerator instead of easing on or off it. I have gone into the settings to see if it can be defeated, and it apparently cannot.
