Hey to everyone that has subs in the back of there M i highly suggest installing dynamat in your car.. i installed it in my RL years ago and also just last night installed it in my M and it makes a whole lot of difference... it doesnt increase the sound that much as in loudness but increases sound quality and almost completely stops the rattle especially when your bass hits at low volumes and you can hear a rattle, well thatll be gone if you install it right and in all the right areas... you can get it at best buy and look for the dynamat trunk kit... its only 39.99.. thanks and good luck to everybody.. :dblthumb:

Can you let us know where "the right areas" are? I've never used it and have only heard good things about it. Thanks!

hey man sure... first thing if u have ever changed your tag lights u r gonna have to go through the same procedure of unsnapping around your trunk to take the cover off( its the little blck pegs that u have to pull out ) but before u take the cover off u r gonna want to unsnap carefully the trunk release latch.. then u can see a wide open stright across space on the top of the trunk, when u open ur trunk u r looking directly at it... put that piece on first cause thats the largest section u have to cut out, u will know what im talking about when u see it. then there are alot of open holes in ur trunk ur gonna wann seal those up next, u can also cut out small pieces to fill the sections that are awkard sizes and area to install... there are spaces that have wiring all over the trunk... do not put it over the wires simply cut it out and pull the wires up and fit it securely under the wires... theres really no way u can mess up bro.. the only thing is make sure u dont cover the electrical wires just simply fit them under, then with the pieces u have left just fill in the spots that u didnt cover, even if its not perfect donnie its cool cause u just snap the cover right back into place along with the trunk realease and snap the pegs back in and u r good to go! hope that was helpful in the least bit of way... i got home last night and installed it in like 20 min.. its simple!

Let me preface this by saying I dynomated mine before I put in my sub, so I can't really comment on the contrast of with and without the dynomat with the present setup.

I bought the dynomat because I figured once I upgraded the sub I would absolutely need it, however I really didn't hear that much rattling beforehand...taking that with a grain of salt because most of the times the stock sub is a weak performer due to how infiniti set up the crossover processing. Their efforts to stop vibrations is at least one positive I can say with this car and the audio quality, the car seems to be pretty well built in not rattling or resonating. 2008. They actually have their own damping material in the trunk and in the doors that seem to work extremely well. The thing I believe should really be paid attention to is the rattling not the resonating(which is what the dynomat is really for). The places where things are touching each other and vibrating against each other. Ex. after all the money spent on dynomatting the car, the rear license plate with cover and the button that pops the trunk almost puts it to waste.

What I would recommend is to take everything apart first (rear deck, license plate, trunk liners, spare tire, door trim) and play your stuff and isolate what is actually in need of the dynomat. Leave your trunk open when you do this the first time. One place I can say will almost certainty need it is the inside of the door panels by the handles.

As far as the holes in the trunk lid, I don't recommend you just cover them up, either fill in the holes or dynomat inside the cavities and outside. By covering up the holes (without filling the cavities with some type of foam or something) you are creating a chamber for the waveform to resonate, and you don't want that. Also remember that you do not need to cover every piece of metal. This is to stop the resonating from traveling through the metal causing waveforms, so figure you really only need to cover 30-50% of any surface. Save most of your money for sound proofing and stopping vibrations, the car seems pretty well built....again this is with a gain of salt.

Good posts here. I used both dynamat and Fatmat (Fatmat is cheaper by about 1/2 and performs just as good--Amazon has it). I dynamatted the trunk, the rear seat area and all four doors. My buddy often talks about how much quieter my car is than his later model. It is definitely worth it. On the deck lid - be careful if you choose to fill the voids. The metal is VERY thin on top of the support structure (what you see with the fascia removed). I just trimmed dynamat to attach to the openings in the support (attached the dynamat to the deck lid skin from inside the car.

All and all, time consuming but easy to do and well worth it in the end.
