F*$# yeah it does! But here's the deal, you can't go half-a** on the installation. I'd do all of the doors and the tailgate at the least. I used about 1-1/2 bulk packs of Dynamat Extreme but I also did the hood and did both the inside of the door cavity and the outside facing the interior of the vehicle. I used a much thinner material for the headliner.Qxxx4 wrote:Yo to anybody who has used it especially Empty V, does it make a HUGE difference? i suffer alot of rattle on my drivers side door and my foam pads didnt do much so Im thinking of buying some dynamat or even a knockoff to improve it, keeping stock speakers since they work good.
i found someone selling a 12sq/ft roll or dynamat for $75, but its a 45 min drive from me, worth it?? i could do all the doors with that im sure
First off I wouldn't buy the foam, that stuff is really meant to go over the regular material. I would go with Dynamat Extreme. I would think that 12sq ft would be adequate but don't quote me on it. I would start with the front door and do the inside and out and if you've got some left over do back doors. One layer is ok but a lot of your road noise(vibration) will resonate inside the door cavity if not blocked. The stuff I used for the headliner was Accutmat by Scoche. That pic was taken before it was rolled out. Unfortunately I don't have any more pics but I've been wanting to take my door panels of and make new backers for them which I'll probably get to in a few weeks.Qxxx4 wrote:yeah Im looking for rattle reduction, my foam pads only made a difference for a week now it sounds all rattly again on certain songs. If i find cheap dynamat somewhere ill get it, id just do my doors though
heres a good deal

should i go with 1/4" or would i get away with 1/8"..there isnt much difference in price so i know the answer. Could you possibly link that thread you had with pics of your install? i love the one pic of it under the hood, did you do parts of the firewall too? I can see how you got addicted lol
How much would I need for 1 layer on the doors, 12sq feet sound good?
Technically Dynamat is used to prevent sound waves from transferring to body metal. By adding Dynamat, it effectively adds mass to body metal and it deadens the sound waves. It will kill some exterior and interior sounds simply by preventing the transfer of those sound waves to the interior or exterior of the vehicle via the metal body panels. So it will make the vehicle interior somewhat quieter as well as making it more difficult for music to be heard on the exterior of the vehicle.REZN wrote:so dynamat is to keep outside noise from getting in?does it keep the inside noise from getting out?music etc.?
Checked that, it rattles, but nowhere near as bad as the rear hatch.miamiheat3332 wrote:FYI- rear rattling is probably your license plate. I cut out a peice of plexiglass behind the plate, then stuck felt furniture movers along the back, and since there is no 2 lower holes for the plate and im not making new ones, i used 3 strips of electrical tape to hold the plate against the plexi at the bottom.
