I want to dye the carpet in my S14 Black. What kind of dye should I use, and how should I do it?

I have dyed carpet (in my 68 GS) before, and it turned out nice.

However, for $100 you can replace it with brand new, so it may not be worth it.

Several companies make a fabric dye in a rattle can (go to an upholstery shop), you'll need several cans to do it right.

Also, it's easier if you take the carpet out of the car. Vacuum well, take a broom to it, vacuum again. Use a soft bristle brush (like a floor scrubbing brush) to work the spray dye into the fibers as you spray it.

The way i dyed my carpet was with a box of RIT dye from walmart. I just mixed it up and put it in a spray bottle and sprayed it on the carpet. It has been down for almost a year now and it still looks great.

I bought a new carpet for my last s13 and it was a pain in the *** to install. It was realy pretty and modled nicely.. but it does not come pre-cut.. and that is the BIGGEST hadache... and will never come out as good as stock

I would rather dye my old carpet black .. much easier to do.
