New to this forum as I am in the market to purchase an M soon. Looks to be some good info on here. My Nissan 300 forums have been good to me over the years, as has the MDX forum! Looking at an older model M35 or 45, 2006-08 but have a question regarding some of the units I've seen online. Some of the cars have a DVD looking unit mounted in the console between the front seats. In the owners manual, it states this is a DVD player, but in reviewing the remaining pictures of the car (online of course), there is no screen mounted to the roof or in the backs of the headrests. I'm confused as to where the DVD would be playing or why there would be a player and no screen. Does it play the movie in the GPS screen for just the front passengers or what? Would someone please help me understand this?
Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forum. The DVD plays the front NAV screen when the car is in park. Some models come with the rear DVD screen (I forget which package it in off hand), in which case, the DVD would play through both screens I believe. Hope that answers your question.

Thank you sir! That answers it! Just seems strange to me to have a DVD system in your car when you can only watch it while the car is in park. My car is never in park when I'm in it! Kind of tough for the kids to see the movie on that front screen as well. Oh well... :gotme

No problem, happy to help. I along with a lot of other people agree with you. There's a NAV Hack you can perform that essentially tricks the car into thinking it is in park so you can watch DVD's while the car is in motion.

I keep DVD music videos in the car. Don't care about watching them, but it's the only way to experience the 5.1 Dolby sound through all 14 speakers. There used to be DVD audio discs available but the video discs are cheaper and there is a much larger serlection. Put one in and listen. You have to start the DVD while parked (and set the parking brake to see video) so make your selection before driving off. Let us know what you think. Enjoy

There is a package you can get for rear DVD screens, but it isnt standard with any of the normal tech packages.
