Hey guys,

I have a 2006 M45 sport, if I pop in DVD's from blockbuster they work fine, if I put one in from the flea market or something it's fine, but when i make my own like I always have in my previous vehicles it does not work...Any idea why? Any idea how I can fix this? I tried using different brand of dvd's, i tried using +r, -r dvd's, I tired burning at 2X, 4x, 8x, I'm burt in NTSC, PAL, 4:3, 16:9...nothing works!

sounds like you have a dvd brand problem. i have a huge library of burnt dvd movies in my car and they all work fine. i would suggest experimenting with different brand dvd's and go from there.

What is hapenning when "it doesnt work"? Does it display an error message of some sort? or does it just not display video or audio? Does it simply eject the disk back out?

Its not uncommon for a DVD player to have difficulty reading DVD copies, even some home DVD players have the same issue. It has to do with the quality of the blank DVD and the precision that the DVD burner uses to lay down the data. Unless you were making a hard copy of a digital DVD file that you purchased and downloaded to your computer should you really be making copies of commercial DVD's anyway?

I would try doing a direct DVD to DVD copy and see if that works. Rather than ripping it to your HDD (or SSD) and then burning to disk.

My burned DVDs work. I use a program called DVD Shrink, along with Nero.

It is how you are burning the disk and the information it is using

I'm using Super DVD creator to make the DVD. I've done this before many times, the DVD works on the computer and in other DVD players.

When I say it doesn't work I mean no audio no video, the blue light on the DVD player just keeps flashing blue and nothing comes up on the screens. It seems like it's trying to read and goes to a blank screen then back to the blue screen.. sometimes it says cd error, the dvd does not eject on its own.

I've tried many brands, I don't know what else to do.

Hmmm ... I would recommend trying:

1. Verbatim DVD-R disks. These are sometimes more compatible with DVD players than other brands and types. In general the "-R" kind are recommended for use in consumer DVD players.

2. Checking your burner. It may have a misalignment that is subtle enough. Maybe you can burn a disk in a different writer (at a friend perhaps) and see what happens.

3. Are you "closing" the write-session properly? See if you can try some setting in your software, or try another generic DVD copier off the Internet.

4. Take it in to the dealer and ask for it to be fixed ...

I tried Super DVD creator once. It was horribly slow and the DVD didn't work in my DVD player once it was finished. Try using "X to DVD" as it is faster and works better.

thank you i figured the computer was diong something that helped the car read the disc but why won't the car show the info for the store bought disc? why do i have to burn it to a cheap plain disc to get it to read? i would have hoped the car could read store-bought... oh well. thanks for eveyone's help.

Because it isnt a DivX capable player. Most DVD players are not except for new standalone players that you buy for your home theater.

Plus, DIVx has been mostly abandoned now, luckily ... as far as I know. Old DIVx disks will need such a player of course.
