I'm installing a Pioneer AVIC-X910BT, with DVD player, and I'd like to wire it so that the DVD player can be used without the parking brake being applied. It seems there are two systems used for this. One is to ground the green safety wire, and the other is to give it positive voltage, in both cases by using a toggle switch.

From what I have read, it seems that older head units require a ground for the green wire, and newer units require 12v+. So, will applying 12v+ to that green safety wire let me run the DVD player?

Of course I'm not going to drive cross country watching videos, but my wife might like to watch something occasionally. Mainly, I like to be in control of my equipment and not have some safety guy tell me what I can do.

i've never seen one that takes +12v. run the green wire to one side of a toggle switch, and the other side to ground. done.

That should work for your model.
