DVD 5.1 Surround sound

I just purchaed a DVD Audio Disc and it is amazing with the 5.1 surround! I can't go back to the radio now! You do have to play the DVD Audio disc in the center console player so only one disc ata time but it is worth it! I also realized that you get surround sound at some level from CD's made from original factory CD's I downloaded onto my home computer and then ripped to a new CD. It sounded great. Nearly as good as the DVD Audio disc and they play in the 6 CD changer!!! Car could use a little more subwoofer, but not a big deal.

I agree, the sound of the radio is average at best. Put in a DVD-Audio disc and the system truly comes alive. It's like going from an old AM transistor radio to a good stereo system. My frustration is the limited availability of DVD-Audio discs. The format does not appear to have taken off in the marketplace so the studios are not producing many (if any) new discs. The amount of available titles is quite limited, and the ones that you can get can be very expensive. Try finding The Eagles Hotel California for less than $75. You can find them on ebay, but my best success has come with amazon.com. Best Buy and Circuit City don't carry them. Super Audio Compact Discs (SACD) seems to have more titles, but I don't know if they will play in the player. Has anyone tried a SACD disc in the DVD-Audio player? The player will also play 5.1 DTS cd's. I have several and they sound almost as good as the DVD-A discs.You can also play standard DVD's so I keep a couple of my favorite concert DVD's in the car as well.
