I have recently put on aftermarket rims on my 2002 maxima se... and I found that I needed to take the dust caps off the rear. If you have any ideas of what I can do to keep those sealed up better please let me know. Or if thats the only way you can put on aftermarket rims.

i had to do the same thing to both my old '96 and now on my '99 maximas. when they were being mounted the back rims wouldnt fit with the dust-caps on so i just took them off at first (on my '96). it drove fine and i never noticed any problems until awhile later i started noticing a humming noice which i assumed to be due to the tire tread. anyways, during a factory maintainance they brought me back and showed me why i should not have done that. water had gotten into where the dustcap had been and caused something (they told be but i have forgotten now) to rust and go bad, almost resulting in a lost wheel!! so, since then i have used a gasket-sealer (avaliable at any auto parts store) to "glue" the center caps to the rims. i also went ahead and did all 4 wheels that way....i havent had any problems since! hope this helps!!
