Sorry. But I'm actually still alive but just barely. But I could just as easily be dead. Now I'll tell you what happened.

I was driving home from the coffee shop a few minutes ago and there was this big a** loader driving down the road. One of these: (but it had forks and not a bucket)

he was driving about 15 mph and it was a slow 2 way street. So I pulled out to pass accelerating up to probably 30 MPH. Suddenly the thing turned in front of me. I resisted the urge to close my eyes and kiss myself goodbye but just barely. I swear it's tires were 7 feet tall and It wasn't equipped with blinkers or break lights and the driver didn't bother to look behind him. Luckily I wasn't going terribly fast and slammed on the breaks and swerved left just as the big a** tire missed running over my hood by a few inches. I was wearing my seatbelt or I no doubt would have been thrown from my seat because of the swerve and extremely fast stop. The driver finally noticed me and glanced over his shoulder as if wondering why I was doing off to the side of the road with a cloud of dust around me. Jackass. I should call your boss and get your a** fired. :squint: I think I'll have enough adrenalin to last me until late tonight.

Glad you are okay. I would have needed new pants.

Any vehicle on a public road open to traffic must be equipped with turn signals OR the driver must use hand signals to communicate intent to traffic. His fail for not abiding by that rule.

But the Darwinist in me has gotta point out that it might not have been wise to pass in that area.

It is a 2 way road with large "emergency lanes" on each side. Its quite empty at this time of day and as far as I could tell there was no other traffic. I usually don't pass in the city but the speed limit is 35 MPH and the roads were empty so why not? Oh, and he was driving off to the side half in the emergency lane.

You said it turned in front of you, so I assumed you were at some sort of intersection.

There was a big driveway that enters the yard of the local Dairy. It's a big driveway but technically not an intersection. That's where it turned.

First, I'm glad you're ok broham. Next, did the loader actually hit you or is the damage to your car due to trying to avoid it?

I don't think he or his car/truck were damaged at all, just a close call. Glad you reacted in time mate. I had an 18 wheeler do the same thing one time on a two way highway at 70mph, luckily there was an emergency lane i swerved into and didn't get annihilated. I remember that every time i pass an 18 wheeler.

I hope so.....but nothing makes you feel more alive than a close call with the grim reaper eh?

I did have to cut the cloth material on the seat because I wasn't able to pry it out of my clenched cheeks. Other than that no major damage. :D

Coming that close to a serious wreck is a strange sensation I've never had and likely won't forget.

We once had a two-lane paver run over the passenger side of the car me and my friends were in in Baltimore... the guy just kept going like he didn't notice, he said later he thought it was a curb. We're still trying to figure out why he was driving something like that down Pratt St. in the middle of rush hour...

The owner of the car ran after him and climbed up the machine and cussed the guy out, guy was locked in his cage and took off with the driver still on the equipment. Police got involved, it was hilarious. Guy ended up fired and a huge lawsuit for reckless endangerment and a whole slew of other charges.

Go find the douche before he screws up again.

Meh. I'm sure if they were smoked it would have caught my eye as being a "bad a** loader". :gapteeth:
