hey every1!

i have seen a few posts of completed caliper paint jobs but didnt really see anyone post up a review of duplicolors caliper paint kitwebsite link: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html

the kit comes with caliper cleaner, caliper paint, stir stick, paint brush, masking tape and complete instruction book. The Caliper Paint features Ceramic Resins for maximum heat dissipation. It won’t blister, flake, crack or peel.

i picked up a box of this in the Red because i thought that would look best on my radiant silver AC and make a nice cosmetic mod since i dont have the money for an expensive brake kit upgrade.

just want to make sure that the kit really does contain everything i need... or do i need to buy sandpaper or a sanding foam/brick to sand the surface of the caliper... use caliper primer (if there is even such a thing.. or does the caliper cleaner basically do this job?) and then paint?

i also bought brake cleaner to use prior to cleaning and painting the calipers.

ps- i also bought duplicolor clear coat (Ceramic and heat resistant just like the paint kit) and thought this would make a nice finish to the job.

any feedback on these items or process so that it comes out clean and super nice?!!?!?!! thanks for your help and advice in advance!!!

-mike

the kit sucks, really cheap. I bought the same in red. its a real pain to use. your best bet is to buy the can spray paint version and unmount your calipers then just spray them.

but if you really want to do it with the kit go ahead. the paint brush sucks the little ****ty small tape is lame. and the brake cleaner sucks BALLZ. your better use sanding the caliper down and using a pro brake cleaner. take a BIG bottle .

hey mech... i can see your point on removing the calipers... but im not a mechanic or anything and wonder on a scale of 1-10 what the difficulty rating would be to remove them... an reinstall them safely and properly?

real easy! but I didn't remove the brake fluid line though because I didn't want to mess with bleeding the brakes

on 1 to 10 I give it a 4 for INTIMIDATION (unreal turnament voice a la DOMINATION, UNSTOPPABLE, GODLIKE, MONSTERKILL, etc... lol!!)

lol, i'll go against the grain of the thread and say i like the paint.

Note i say the paint - the brush is horrendous - use your own. The cleaner isn't that bad, you might want to sand a little anyway to get the paint to stick a little better.

How many miles do you have on your car? You shouldn't have that much brake crap on your car - I did my moms infiniti at 36k and it wasn't bad...our brakes don't make that much dust.

Make sure you wait to do the clearcoat a week later, so this way the base can have time to settle.

So you painted them while they where still attached to the car.

Did you just tape everything else off, or cover it up some how? Because the brake lines don't give you alot of slack to work with.

well the calipers is two piece, one smaller and one bigger. the smaller come off completly and I painted it no prob. the big one I removed it from the rotor but I left it attached with the brake line. I gave me room to rotate it and sand it and paint it no prob

Ok I see what you are saying, not a bad idea. I was going to paint mine awhile ago, but I didnt have the right size wrench to take the lower portion of the caliper off. Of course I found that out after I had allready blocked the car up, taken two of my wheels off and then taken off the top part of the caliper. lol O'well

I am going to paint my calipers when I send my lights to Brandon. Along with alot of other mods That will require me not to drive my car for awhile.
