the kit sucks, really cheap. I bought the same in red. its a real pain to use. your best bet is to buy the can spray paint version and unmount your calipers then just spray them.MikeisSUPERBAD wrote:hey every1!
i have seen a few posts of completed caliper paint jobs but didnt really see anyone post up a review of duplicolors caliper paint kitwebsite link: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html
the kit comes with caliper cleaner, caliper paint, stir stick, paint brush, masking tape and complete instruction book. The Caliper Paint features Ceramic Resins for maximum heat dissipation. It won’t blister, flake, crack or peel.
i picked up a box of this in the Red because i thought that would look best on my radiant silver AC and make a nice cosmetic mod since i dont have the money for an expensive brake kit upgrade.
just want to make sure that the kit really does contain everything i need... or do i need to buy sandpaper or a sanding foam/brick to sand the surface of the caliper... use caliper primer (if there is even such a thing.. or does the caliper cleaner basically do this job?) and then paint?
i also bought brake cleaner to use prior to cleaning and painting the calipers.
ps- i also bought duplicolor clear coat (Ceramic and heat resistant just like the paint kit) and thought this would make a nice finish to the job.
any feedback on these items or process so that it comes out clean and super nice?!!?!?!! thanks for your help and advice in advance!!!

I did it and I SUCK. lolMikeisSUPERBAD wrote:hey mech... i can see your point on removing the calipers... but im not a mechanic or anything and wonder on a scale of 1-10 what the difficulty rating would be to remove them... an reinstall them safely and properly?
So you painted them while they where still attached to the car.mcheddadi wrote:

real easy! but I didn't remove the brake fluid line though because I didn't want to mess with bleeding the brakes
on 1 to 10 I give it a 4 for INTIMIDATION (unreal turnament voice a la DOMINATION, UNSTOPPABLE, GODLIKE, MONSTERKILL, etc... lol!!)
well the calipers is two piece, one smaller and one bigger. the smaller come off completly and I painted it no prob. the big one I removed it from the rotor but I left it attached with the brake line. I gave me room to rotate it and sand it and paint it no probInfantry1327 wrote:

Did you just tape everything else off, or cover it up some how? Because the brake lines don't give you alot of slack to work with.
marlin... did u put ur ac up on 4 jacks? or did u do 1 wheel at a time?marlin29311 wrote:lol, i'll go against the grain of the thread and say i like the paint.
Note i say the paint - the brush is horrendous - use your own. The cleaner isn't that bad, you might want to sand a little anyway to get the paint to stick a little better.
How many miles do you have on your car? You shouldn't have that much brake crap on your car - I did my moms infiniti at 36k and it wasn't bad...our brakes don't make that much dust.
Make sure you wait to do the clearcoat a week later, so this way the base can have time to settle.
hey mch.. i tried the link for those videos.. but the box for the video is black.. and nothing plays even if i leave the site up for an hour... do i have to be a memberof that site to watch the videos?mcheddadi wrote:there you go:
