The special lady-friend and I got together this weekend to take a crack at coating my box with some of the Duplicolor Spray on bed liner. Lesson learned: Better to brush on than roll on.

We started by masking off the truck with newspaper. Next we grabbed scouring pads and went to town scratching up the paint. We cleaned that up using a couple of tack cloths by Bondo, that saved us from have to wash the bed a second time. Next was pouring the bedliner. I read a review on some car website that some guy had a hard time with this stuff, he must have been a tard...that or he forgot to mix it up with a paint brush (makes applying must easier) because it has the consistency of tar with ten times the stink. 2x3" paint brushes had the first coat on in less than 30 minutes.

Here's some pics:

Prep work and first coat.

Final coat and finished product.

And finally, some daytime pics of the green machine.

Thanks for looking!

Cool. My uncle used some of that stuff on his last truck (96 Taco 4x4) and it worked well for a good while.

Looks good! I think I might have to do this to my truck soon. I currently have a nice plastic bed liner, but I wouldn't mind doing an actual roll on/paint on liner!

I used a similar product on my Xterra's rear custom bumper and sliders. The stuff I used is a 2 part eurethane called Hippo-Liner. I used a foam roller and it gave me a good heavy orange peel look in 2 coats.

The stuff is great but good metal prep is key regardless of the product being used.

Mine came with the Nissan duraliner. Last summer I took it off and there was no rust , after 14 years.

I lucked out with no rust, just a little surface stuff that came off with the scouring pads.

Thanks for sharing.I'd like to do a textured 'rhino lining' and eliminate my liner. But I need to find another bed, one without rust holes.

That looks awesome RevD!

I have a box of a Rustoleum bed liner that's been sitting in the box for about 5 years. I bought it on eBay when I bought the truck and have been putting it off. Hopefully it's still good... it's a two part mix up deal. I should actually apply it at some point if it hasn't set up in the can!

If you had it to do over again, would you put it over the bed rails, or just up to the bottom of the lip?

I was forced to do it over the bed rails because of the scratches. I plan on putting a cover on next spring which will hide the liner.

I used Herculiner myself. I read the directions wrong and painted the outside of the truck with it. Meh...

But seriously, it looks good You need some center caps for those rims. I have a set of chrome ones that I wonder if they'd fit.....

I would if I hadn't retired those wheels. The one thing those wheels have going for them is how light they are, not even have the weight of the rims I have on right now. If I put a good set of 14's on them I could have some good weekend drag wheels.
