I am hoping to retain the original wheels and tires sizes on my 93 G50. The only tire that I have been able to locate with the original Z speed rating and correct load rating is the Dunlop SP5000. Does anyone have any experience with this tire or recommendations? Thanks!

Wonder how similar they are to the D4(?) that were standard in 1994 until they were all recalled?

No XGTV?

I tired these a few years back I gave them away after 5,000 miles. They just were not up to task for dealing with Q front weight and high caster and camber.

Michelin H rated would be the minimum I would recommend watch out for modern 51 psi tires the side walls are thin as ballons and have zero sidewall stiffness without high psi inflation...............so the 29/29 numbers on the tire placard have to be upped to 35-40 psi.

To get the D5000 to work I had to use 48 psi inflation cold scarey experience.

If you're looking for the same (OEM) size the Michelin Pilot Exalto is an excellent tire. I have them in 16" on my Q. You can get a little better handling and traction by going to a 225 width on the same rim.

The Z rated tires are nice but are you really going to be driving over 130mph more than once, and is it worth the added expense vs. the H rated Michelin? Your call.

go with the michelin pilot exalto in 225/60/15 which is V rated,an excellent tire,I have 25k on them, and they are better than the xgt I have used in both h and v rated versions for over 150,000 miles on my Q

The SP5000 comes in different rating speeds,at very different characteristics. The higher rated all season version we've used in the past on several 3200lb older 5 series BMWs,and they not only worked well on the street, but even worked decently ontrack at BMWCCA driver's schools.I used to recommend them to some of my students. BUT,not sure if the weight difference on a 3800/3900lb Q45 would change that.Don't think so.

Get rid of those 15s please. I drove over 350K G50 miles on 15s---there is no comparison to 17+ rims. Far better "feel" and humongus tire selection.
