Ok guys well I recently acquired a 93 J30. I'm in the process of replacing the entire Timing Belt assembly - the full kit from Joe T.

Also doing a transmission flush, coolant flush, changing the rear differential fluid, plugs, etc. Bascially going through the car.

I've contacted Jim Wolf Tech - and I've ordered his ECU and cold air intake.

I'm currently on the hunt for a set of OEM 300ZX 5 speed cams, so I can send them over to Jim Wolf, he can reground them and I can drop them in. If anyone has any suggestions as to where I can find a set - please PM me or post here.

Ok next... Nitrous

I would like to do a 60 shot, is that alright with this motor? I used to run a 80 shot w/20 PSI on my forged 2.0L 4 cylinder (Turbo'd AWD Talon - 4G63 motor) so I thought 10 per cylinder would be fine...? My concern is more the transmission than the motor - but you guys know best.

Any other big power-adders you guys have in mind, before I put her on the bottle?

I just want to be able to hang with the new G35s/350Zs

Thanks!!!

Be sure to add a transmission cooler ( cheap) especially if running higher than stock power..

This does 3 thnigs:

-Cool ATF ( of course)-increase your internal ATF volume-remove a common restriction as the stock heatexchanger often plugs up and a by passing cooler will remove this potential source of flow restriction and failure

Fred..

PS: A good transmission flush with pandrop/filter wont hurt either..

Thanks for the reply!

Ok, so I'll drop the pan, and install a new filter as far as the transmission is concerned.

You have to be patient with me as far as AT are concerned - this is the first car I've owned that hasn't been a MT.

Now on my last car (Talon) I installed an oil cooler - it was probably roughly 6" x 6" and was mounted to the right of my front mount - where will I mount this cooler in the J30?

Obviously, the more air flow the better, right?

Where is the OEM heat exchaner in the J30? Is it built into the radiator or something...?

I picked one up from Jeg's (oil cooler) it was only like 100 bucks or something. Is this what I need or...?

Just trying to figure this all out, lines, etc!

What do you think about the 60 shot, ok?

Thanks for your input!

1) And do a flush or at least fluidn exchange until the transmission fluid that comes out is all red..You will need a shops machine for that, ANd be sure to drop and clean the filter first so the flush doesnt send dirty particles t6hru the transmission.

2)No Prob..

3) They go in front of the radiator.4)Yes into radiator, this is what you want to bypass.

5)I dont know which exact part you have. there are a coupe part#'s for B&M and other manufacturers trany coolers floating around in our Q45 section, which will also apply to your car

6) transmission cooler will come with instrauctions

7) Doesnt sound unreasonable..I know a guy whos been doing 75 shot into a ( weaker than yours) Altima engine for a while with no ill effect (so far)

Thanks for all your help!!!

Nitrous Question: When I used to run the direct port system on my Talon - I picked up a Wideband O2 Kit - Ran me about $450 or so. Basically like an OEM O2 sensor - but extremely accurate, and you have a gage which displays a digital readout. It tells you how the A/F mixture is down to the tenth - extremely accurate.

Is this required to run the 60 shot in the J30? I'd like to have it - but I think it'll really take away from the interior (a blink red gauge doesn't match well with the leather/Bose/etc haha). Let me know what you think!

BADASS ride! Haha, I'm hoping with all the above stuff completed, to hang with STOCK G35s/350Zs - doesn't that suck! Your car must get some pretty nasty drifts going...

Nice ride though man, props!
