Dummy lights staying on

so when i hooked up the battery the brake-seatbelt and all those lights come on and stay on as long as the battery is hooked up. any things i should look for

I'm not saying it is the cause, but the couple times I have seen something like that it turned out to be an internally shorted alternator.

Have you recently put in a stereo or any electronic equipment? I am think crossed wires...
