hey guys im new here but, I just bought a salvaged 2003 Z and it has the aps twin turbo package and a turboxz computer. Anyway in order to get this thing to pass state inspection i have to get the check engine light to come on with the key and go off when started. With the high preformance goodies, im running hot plugs and the tend to carbon up if i dont run it hard and throw a multi cyl missfire code. so can i hook the check engine light through the oil light? is it possible?

They don't scan for the light itself, they scan the ECU for codes. You have to pass certain ready checks, and your ECU can't be throwing codes, so connecting the light to something else won't help.

Also the whole gauge cluster is run by CAN BUS which is a data stream, so unless you want to open the whole gauge cluster and solder on traces...

What you'll need to do is either have the car tuned correctly, or find someone with less ethics than sense to pass it illegally.
