well well mr matt...claiming supreme knowledge on how to make the most power out of an SR because you work at a dyno shop 20 hours a week, but you can even fix a simple problem? might wanna put nitrous filled gas shocks on your hatch, they will make the most power when you open it up...

yes they are. after the spring pops the hatch what makes it move up? i doubt a the force released by the spring will pop the hatch completely open and swing it up, just so the shocks hold it up. the spring will pop the hatch release out of its locking unit, and the gas in the shocks will extend their rods out and voila the hatch raises. thats why its a little harder to put the hatch back down on new shocks cuz ur compressing the gas when u put it back down. But i agree, the spring is prolly really dirty or just old and tired. might also wanna check the cable that actually pops the spring, maybe its cut (extreme).

Try moving the latch assembly down bu losening the screws and taping lightly with a hammer....ten retighten the screps.

Next time you put the hatch down it will go down much tighter, and almost under force....the rubber stoppers on either side of the hatch will compress a bit.

When you pop up the latch beside the seat you will now hear a pop, and be able to open the trunk.

Well that fixed it on my car.

i havent even bothered trying to mess with the stupid latch. i figured there was maybe a little quick fix to get it working before i go to cophers and replace it.

if i spent all the time figuring out how to fix these little non mattering pieces on the car i wouldn't have time to get the real stuff done, now would i !
