Not really related to the CA but its the engine I want and the forum that I read the most on. So bear with me.

Im in Richmond, Va and I've seen this 240 outside of this tiny performance shop down the street and I've noticed its been there quite a while and I could see the exhaust hanging from the bottom, so I finally decided to stop in.

I drive up and I see some guys looking at my 240 coupe, so I get out and this guy starts talking to me and I ask him if they're doing a swap on that 240 over there? And he says yea were putting a motor in it.(This is one of the head guys there so remember) "oh yea what kind?" oh its a silvia motor..... "umm which one?" he says the one from japan that will bolt into a 240.... I smile and say "oh, how much do you all charge for the installation?" he says "were never doing another Nissan swap again, its too aggrivating and I'm stuck on the wiring so we wont be offering the swap anymore." I asked him if they were able to get a CA18 for a good price and he says "oh thats the s14 motor right?" I smirk and say nah its the early model silvia and 180sx motor. He's like yea i'll get back to you on that, what kind of 240 do you have? Do you have the 240 with the trunk? I say yea (thinking to myself what the hell does that matter) and he writes down on the paper "SeeA18det 92 240sx Trunk"

then a guy walks in and heres us talking and is like "man we need to get a nissan guy here" i was thinkin in my head "yea you might wanna get someone who's got atleast a little clue whats going on

he also mentioned that they had 4 sr's on hand

but anyways mostly my point is that these places just read the magazines and here what everyones doing and hop on the bandwagon and get into buisness with something that they know nothing about. Atleast know what your doing before you take someones money and have someones car for a few months and just let it sit there.

Thanks for your time

Good observation.I feel sorry for the owner of that car.

In light of so many members going for swaps lately, this is an important point to make.

There are so many levels of swaps that is pathetic for a shop with no knowledge to jump on the bandwagon and try any of them because if you can't do the ghetto one, then you sure as heck can't do the custom one. All I can say is that they are in trouble. I just recently did a wiring job on an S14 with Sr20DET using a SDS and it still kicked my butt. And the sad thing is, I've been doing wiring for nissans for nearly 7 years so it's not like I'm ignorant, but needless to say my friend's car is really tight work that looks better than most magazine crap and this is called "Custom wiring to the 3rd degree" and friend or no friend, you're going to pay for quality work. There's the quickie stuff to whereas you just make it work :D Most people seem to really like this to save some $$$ and wonders why their computers burn out after about 3 miles of driving!

Yea man that'd be great if you would help me with my swap, I have a feeling im going to be needing a motor pretty soon, mine keeps gettin slower and slower and smokier. I was planning on getting it sometime before June so I'd have everything ready for our trip to myrtle beach. Mostly the best motor setup i've found is a Ca18det w/out ECU and Harness for 800, Venus has em for 1400 plus shipping but their shippin is $500-700 so i doubt that..... So im just tryin to find a decent place and a good price. I've been researching on the wiring and got a little notebook with what wire goes to what so that might help a little.

well venus is were my motor originally came from, no too bad of shape i guess, but i think you can get one for 1200 shipped other places, if you get a motor no harness or ECU boost boy might still have a sds system to hook it up with for a good price!
