Underground Motorsports is selling their new F/R strut tower bars at a steal of a price ($69 for both) and I was wondering if a strut tower bar will clear the valve cover of a CA? I am told that they are the same size as GReddy/HKS/Cusco bars. Thanks guys.

Dunno about that brand, but when guys over here buy a strut brace form the US the brace doesnt clear the plenum chamber unless the brace has been bent. HTH

I believe most true JDM strut bars will clear it. I have a Spats STB that clears everything fine. Mine looks like most round US Spec bars but it is flattened over the intake manifold to give it clearance. It was pulled off a JDM CA18DET clip:)

i just bid on a cusco on ebay from jarco that has a huge bend where the intake plenum would be so for $40 im gonna try it out. I have one from cp racing that im willing to trade someone for something but i doubt it will clear a ca which is why im getting a new one.

i had a one for a KA S13 and it didn't fit due to the plenum so got a proper Cusco JDM one. It was one of the one PDM Racing used to sell I think Courtesy too for about $45, not sure if they still do. It was a really nasty cheap bit of kit, the strut tops were appauling.

these are they...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...75049

Yea....you'll be thinking backwards when your freshly purchased defective STB is being used as a hockey stick.

Seriously though, You don't think there would be a large difference in stiffness of somthing as simple as a strut tower bar from one manufacturer to the next. Because originally i was just going to buy the front and rear pilot bars ($80) and bend the front one to fit but now i'd rather have the cusco bar because it is actually made to fit. However, matching cusco bars would cost like $350.....so now im considering front cusco and rear pilot. Your thoughts please.

some people don't run a rear bar at all, so i don't think it would matter if you used the rear pilot bar with the front cusco. any rear bar has to be better than no rear bar.

good read on STBs and how they work

http://e30m3performance.com/my...y.htm

and how they are made does make a huge differance. i am most likly going to remove my front and add a rear.

Wooo! thats the one to get.

I just got one, long story short, a friend of a friend of a friend got it through his friend in japan off yahoo japan.. got raped on shipping, the bar was $15 then like $80 s&h (the friend's... friend likes to get paid as well, so that was part of it)..

the bar was oversize for Japan's mail system even w/ the ends off, and he had to go from seller to contact, to friend here in the US to me so mad shipping costs.. mine arrived monday :D

those things are beefy as hell.. the bar is like almost 2" wide and 1/2" thick, the mounts are like nearly 1/4" thick..
