Where on the Q should I place a hydraulic jack to raise the front and rear. Also where is the best place to place axle stands.

Here's an excerpt from a lengthy thread (4 pages) about Oil pan R&R

Quote »1. After placing chocks behind the rear wheels, using a garage jack centered on the 1990 Q45 front crossmember (see GI-21, diagram SG1623, "Garage Jack & Safety Stand Placement Points"), lift the 1990 Q45 & place two two safety stands under the frame (at about the flywheel location along the Q45 sidelines)[/quote]Hope that helps.

On the front, you want to put it on the cross member... Thats where I jack it up, and then I put the stands on the actual frame of the car, on the 2 main frame things...

The rear, jack it up by the rear differential...

When you jack the front up place the jack or the stands under the frame rails only at the spot where it is double thickness, otherwise you will dent the frame rails. In the rear I put the stands under the spot where the lower forward suspension link bolts to the frame.

Thanks

I have some dents in my frame rails which I may have done from improper positioning of the jack when I changed my wheels and tires last winter
