What is the significant difference between the coolant temperature sensor and the engine water temperature sensor? No flaming b/c I am serious about knowing. Thanks!

There's two sensors on the hard water pipes at the front of the engine. One feeds the gauge and one feeds the ecu the temperature of the water.

so which actually controls the gauge inside? The reason I ask is if it cool outside the car runs fine but when it is hot the temp will move up. The radiator and reserve is (and fully burped) but the car will continue to run on the hot side. I know it is a shot in the dark but I am willing to get the sensor to do the process of elimination. I have tried everything else.

Coolant Temp controls the gauge

but it sounds like a bad therostat to me, that or the bearing in ur waterpump is shot, clogged radiator, ... could be alot of things

Waterpump is the other thing I have not check. I know for a fact there is no clog I have had the car up to 80mph when cool riding for at least 30 mins and no problems.

Yes the thermostat has been changed. I changed the engine water coolant sensor and that did not work. So that is out the way I will now look at the water pump. Any good write-up on how to check and or remove the pump?

You would usually hear it if its going out, the bearing would be kind of make noise,

are you running the factory radiator ?

Is it like loud strain or whining noise? If that is the case then I am hearing that off and on so that could be true. Yes I am still running the oem rad.

just to clarify:
Coolant Temperature Sensor, This si the one with 2 wires the liil like an injector clip) tells the ecu how hot the car is, this is mostly for colst start and when disconnected the ecu assumes it's cold and adds extra fuel

Coolant Temp Sender, (this si the one wiht only a single wire) this goes only to the gauge in the dash so the driver can see hwo hot the engine is, thats all it does

back to your issue of running hot, does the car stay cool when idleing? does ti stay cool at interstate speeds?

you said ti was burped properly, this means you had the heat on high and the engine warm when adding coolant right?

The car stay cool at idle and it does not matter if the ambient air is cold or not. I have cranked this car in the blazing heat and let it run for 30 mins on idle and no raise in temp but if I drive it in the heat it will go to the hotside. After that I have turn the car off and back on and let it run at idle and no hike in temp. But as soon as I drive it goes back up. In the cool months I can go anywhere and there is no problem. I have had this problem ever since I did the deletes of the under plenum water lines. I have an N/A and the only write-up with pics I have ever seen was on a TT and the setup was different. I do believe it is right but if anyone has pics of the proper way it should look on the back of the motor please send. Yes I actually but the water into the rad system then cut it on and ran the car with the heat on high to burp it and finish filling it.
