i dont know why i dont know this but...

How do i turn on the heat? I turned on teh autoclimate and set it to 75, nothing happens. when i set it low enough a/c does work.

The only way i have been doing this is defroster in combination with heated seats. But it is not that warm.

turn the AUTO dial until the tempereture says 90 or 80...whatever you choose. THere is no HEAT button. If you desire you could also use the voice activation to do this...: "TEmpereture 80degrees."

2006 M35 Owner's manual (not sure what your ride is), p. 4.26:

"Heating (A/C Off). The air condioner does not activate in this mode. When you need to heat only, use this mode.

1. Push the A/C button. The led indicator will go off"

...

That is press, AUTO, set Temp high enough, 75 would be enough for me, press the A/C button, the led light will go off. You're set.

It works for me without having to put crazy high temps. But it can get foggy, so watch for where the hot air is being directed to (ideally to your legs). What I do in California (32F lowest) is to turn on the A/C button once in a while. In two minutes the foggy windows get back to normal.

Hope this helps.
