dumb question

ok when i got my 240, the original owner put something for the brakes to be stiffer, he said he did that cause he was used to his mustangs stiff braking system, and he gave me this big black piece with this metal thing hanging out (i will try to post a pic of it later) but my question is, does anyone know where it goes, its a pretty big piece, the place i think it goes is behind the tank for the brake fluid on the drivers side

In the picture where that big round black piece is, do you think it goes there

2) it vaguely sounds like a master cylinder brace; goes somewhere between the firewall and the brake booster.
