The Altima being FWD has a lot to do with it. The only reason the 240 became so popular and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon is because its RWD and that is JDM Drift Tyte!

lol, i love all your 240 sarcasm, and how it always involves a combination of either "Mad, JDM, Tyte, Drift..."

But yep, i gotta agree with that to an extent. It's lighter than an altima, there is way more room to work on a 240's KA24DE, 2 DOORS, of course RWD.

I don't live in Japan, but from what i've heard, S13s are to the japanese as civics are to us. Everyone has one, they make a million parts for em, and thy are damn plentiful, think camaero or something like that.

It's clearly not the same with the Altima, theres no Yashio Factory, no JWT, no HKS, no JUN auto, no one hooks up the altima. Usually when people see a car has been hooked up a million times, they seek to replicate that look other than takin something no one has and trying to do an engine swap, make a body kit, make a gang of suspension and get some nice brakes.

they don't really make anything like that for the Altima do they, you can't like call up Apexi and see whats up with the Altima

The altima has a great following, check out altimas.net. As for parts companies like Hot Shot, Stillen, Place Racing, F-Max (turbo kit), Greddy (exhaust), Suspension Techniques, Sprint, Eibach, VIS, and others support the Altima thoroughly (first gen through third gen). I used to own an altima and can honestly say it was a really fun car to drive around after upgrading the basics.

The 240 has always been popular (because it is such an affortable sports car) but it was never popular enough to pass the Civic as the most popular "tuner" car until the drifting craze took off not too long ago. This is why I was sarcastic about it...I hate hearing every other day "do you drift?"

FF is crappy for motorsports compared to FR, that's why people prefer the 240. Drifting has something to do with it these days, but FR cars just drive and feel better in general, the majority of 240 owners don't drift. I'll gladly take the ~1 mpg hit to have RWD.

Whoa, is there a place where 240's outnumber civics? Get me there quick. It seems like one out of every ten cars I see on the road is a civic, I wonder if they are this popular in other countries. Anyone know the popularity of them in Canada or Mexico?

I'm an autolist, that's car model racist. I hate civics and well..... civics

And just because a car has a KA, doesn't mean it's 'fast' or what have you... Xterra's and Frontiers have them too...And a lot of people swap out the KA (which is a waist of a great engine, in my opinion, but they do). The engine doesn't make the 'coolness' of the car. It's the whole package.
