so my bumper is set up for duel exhaust and I love the way it looks, I have a 91 hatch and I'm putting the Jacquemond wide body kit on. i know most don't like my kit but has anyone put a duel on their RB? I know I would have to remove the gas tank and get a fuel cell. my body man said he had a cheavy inline six in his hot rod and he said it sounds bad A$$ with duels, he said I could buy another Tanabe muffler and put them as close to the motor as possible and then run 3 inch all the way back to the bumper.......sounds do-able.....what do you think?

If your bumper has two cutouts then why not? It'll look better than only one filled. It's not going to hurt performance.

As for the kit.. I really gotta say, I think it sucks. But that's me.

you could try it.. but i dont see why you would want to, a straight pipe sounds amazing on an I6, not sure what it would sould like with a dual.. i think of duals more as a bling bling factor, unless you do have a V motor.

well I should be in the 550-650whp range, do you really think it's going to hurt performance that much??

actually, since your pretty much making the exhaust gasses having to make more turns and bends and go a longer distance it would hurt performance.

granted its not a huge difference, but power is power.

Just weld an extra exhaust tip into the rear bumper and call it a day. that will look better than having an empty hole in the rear valance.

You'll get the look that your after that way.

I agree with Kamin.. you most likely won't get any performance gain from dual exhaust, so what's the point of spending all the money, fabbing exhaust piping, etc...

FWIW... I think the Jacquemond kit looks pretty sharp.. I think you should stop apologizing everytime you post on NICO.

Many cars, including several Ferrari's, have a dual exhaust AFTER a single muffler. Some cars (some models of MR2's) have one real and one fake tailpipe. Either way looks better than a single, imho, and if you do it right, it won't hurt performance. Even on V6 and V8 performance cars there is usually a crossover pipe to help with midrange torque, so don't worry about trying to run full dual pipes all the way from the turbo.

I don't like the whole kit, but I do like the tail. The tail is very sexy, and you're right, you'd be doing that kit a disservice by not running dual pipes. I'm trying to picture those tailights/rear bumper on a stock S13 body, and I think it would look really nice.

due to physics, a would be the best choice. the smaller angle the less restriction on the exhaust=less backpressure=more power. and like eikon said, stop apoligizing. your sig says it all. haters will hate all day, but who gives a f***.

You could probably do the Y version even without a fuel cell, especially if you use rectangular exhaust tubing.

With a fuel cell you could put a huge hi-flo muffler right in the back like this

I'm pretty sure if the piping is branched correctly without improper bends, having a Y at rear section and utilizing 3" piping, it really won't affect performance vs. a single outlet.. but I could be wrong. I'm only using my own logic and speaking as if the entire system is 3" piping without bottlenecks.

I'm thinking of doing the Y pipe at the rear, and yes I have 3" now(exhaust wise...lol) and I can't remember the name for the pipe bending is called something like manderal? but I'm doing that for sure, whats bottleneck? is that where the pipe gets smaller then bigger is some spots?

ok so I think I'm going to just do stight pipe(no muff) all the way back and go into a y pipe for the duels, has anyone done a stright pipe on a RB on here? and if so, do you have a clip?and do you think 3" is big enough or should I go bigger? (3 1/2, 3 3/4) for around 500whp+
