I must apologize for my absence these past few weeks.I've been in albuquerque for a while with my wife and "Mishi" (yes my wife and I named my S13 ) .Next door to where we were staying was a dude with an 89' 240sx getting the car race prepped. The damn car had a VG30ET/borg-warner T-5 combo under the hood, He said that with the mild mods he's extracted 440hp at the wheels and already has killed 2 yes count em not 1 but 2 c5 z06 vettes and showed the proof to back it up( absolutly I needed that kind of proof ) Has anyone performed such a swap and how is this done. cause hell I've already got the engine and trans combo ( extracted from my old 84' 300ZX ) You see I'm not sure because in the Z the engine sits pretty far back and the trans is shorter than the richmond unit in our 240's . Unfortunately he had someone else doing the install at that time and that person isnt available to talk to. So if you know whats up let me know please.

THANKS

Yeah it's been done before, I haven't done it myself though....unfortunately.I'm pretty sure it's a direct swap.

I would rather do a RB swap, I dont really likr the VG motors they are to complex! and a my rb25 swap made around 320 hp with mild mods!

Complex? The VG is a very nice sounding engine and yes RB's are cool to but they cant be had for as cheap! PLus you can extract 450hp out of the VG on stock internals

youre joking, right? if by direct swap you meant nightmare, then i will agree with you. -if- you can fit the engine in, clear the subframe, and custom make a driveshaft, you still have to deal with the hardest part of all-the wiring. there is no way a v6 twin turbo motor (which most vg's are) is agoing to be a direct swap into a car that came factory with a 4 cylinder. has it been done numerous times? yes. is it anything but difficult? no.

The VG30ET is a SOHC, single turbo motor...hence, just the ET on the end of the motor designation instead of DETT. The only beef i would have with the VG30ET is the fact that just about everything on that motor is run on vacuum. There are vacuum hoses everywhere. And almost nothing from the VG30DE fits on the E block. the only thing i am aware of that is a direct swap from motor to motor are the piston heads, and the only reason people do that is because of the ridiculously low stock compression the ET block runs: 7.8:1

Lastly, there is one person i know of who lives in arizona that runs 485 ft-lbs on the stock internals, but has a fully built T-5 since they cant handle much more than around 300ft-lbs in stock trim.

They are extremely torquey motors, which would make for a great racing motor.

okay, read the first post. why would he do an RB swap, when he has the VG30ET sitting at his house. sounds pretty pointless to me... Go ahead and find a little more info, and attempt it. I mean, if you want to compare it to an RB swap, you already have the engine, RB = $3.5k for a 25det clip.. you could rebuild your VG, drop it in, give it a few mods, push out 400hp, for WAY less than an RB, and be completely unique. sounds like a good idear.

That is a Toyota 1UZFE, not a VK56DE.

Kamikaze....i dont think that is an vg30et? I counted 2 throttle bodies and 4 cam gears. Maybe i cant count anymore? if it is an ET block, what intake mani is that guy using, and did he custom fab an exhaust mani to fit that monstrous turbo?

The VG swap will be hard to do but If you already have te engine you're half way there. go ahead do more research, put her in, and post us some pics
