Dual zone climate control issue

I had a 2008 Maxima SL and the A/C would stay on automatically when it was on "Auto" but but I'm finding on my 2014 Rogue you have to manually turn on or off the A/C switch? WIth the Maxima, if you lowered the temp with the A/C on it seems it would automatically turn on or off the A/C...

I don't have a 2014 Rogue, but I read in this forum somewhere that when you have it set to Auto, the A/C will still kick in even when the light is not on. Just can't find the post for now

This is correct. The AC turns on even if the light is not on. I personally consider this to be a bug, one of many small software bugs in this car. They should really have done some better QA on the software.

The thing i hate about the climate control is when it's set on Auto, heat will never come out of the dash vents, only out of the one nickel sized slot below the dash on either side of the center stack. - That is really inadequate to warm up the cabin so I almost always take it off of Auto to get it warmed up in a hurry.

Actually there is more than one slot below the dash - I think there are 3 small ducts there but they don't heat up the cabin very quickly at all.
