Ok, some of you may be thinking WTF?! when you read the topic, but I've been toying around with the idea for a while now and just for the heck of it I did a search and found this:

http://www.18turbo.com/18t-intercoolers.html

Take a look on the bottom where it talks about the dual intercooler setup sometimes running at 100% efficiency. Now, As far as I know, that's technically impossible for a single intercooler, but I don't know about duals, it might work. Anyone have any experience on the subject?

Somehow i think if that if a dual intercooler setup was as good as they make it seem, that it would be a lot more widely used and publicised... but then again maybe its just me.

no, definetly not. tt has single turbo, engine comes in two different trims, 180hp and 225hp, both are identical, both have different computers

ahh, perhaps I was led into thinking "Twin Turbo" from the TT designation then.I remember a beetle (HPA or something) using a TT engine and it had twin turbos (but it was far from stock) so I guess I just assumed they had replaced twin stock ones.

So, has anyone heard of twin intercoolers on a single turbo then?

yes. and from what i've heard its just a waste. all the piping required creates too much of a pressure drop to be any use. The only reason i can think for having dual intercoolers is if your engine has cooling issues so you need to get more air to your radiator. in that case you can just get a fmic w/ spread out fins or some crap. that's just my take on things though. so please, no flames.

did they layer the twin itnercoolers in the test? if they did that would just mean their stock intercooler needs to be thicker correct?

i doubt they layered it. that would completely defeat the purpose. it was most likeyly one intercooler in each corner of the front bumper.

Or possibly two small intercoolers mounted in front? I was thinking about it and if you had two smaller intercoolers up front, one above the other with a Y-pipe, wouldn't that help prevent heat soak? Could be a horrible idea as well though, lol.
