So I started putting together a intake manifold for the KA the other day. Basically aluminum sheet with stock runners. I bought a brand new IACV I will mount on the rear of the plenum and I intend to install an AN fitting on the rear to accommodate my vac manifold. The two main reasons I am building this is due to the stock design, it makes the right side of the motor difficult to get to. Making heater hoses, IACV hoses difficult to work on. I beveled the edges of the plate that I welded to the runners so that it acts as a velocity stack and calculated the volume of the plenum just over 2x the displacement of the motor (ideal from what I understand)

I am also creating a stock side feed fuel rail with dual feeds. I bought a couple fittings from Mcmaster and turned them down to fit inside of the rail. So the rail will have two AN6 fittings on either side and a single return to a remote mounted FPR. I did this to avoid replacing my 850cc side feeds with a top feed/rail setup that I can't afford for my build atm. And to get around the issue with the stock rail leaning out on the last injector at higher horsepower.

Let me know what you all think, any suggestions etc.

Still a ways off from being complete, but ill keep it updated as I go along.

Will do. I hope to have some time this weekend to work on it. I am pulling two transmissions out of two different cars for my friends this weekend, and have to work Saturday.. So I don't know.
I think I will have to build some type of jig to weld the fittings back in the rail keeping the injectors in line. If they are not straight they will pull on the rubber rings and leak. Still need to buy the external reg and a few more fittings and hose. Nice to know there is a work around for the leaning out issue of the stock rail.

Another update.

The dual feed rail will have to feeds that will basically feed two of the injectors instead of having one feed one return. So instead of trying to feed all four from one line it will only feed two. Thus giving the capacity for more fuel for larger horsepower setups that have problems with the stock rail leaning out. Eliminating the need to upgrade to extremely expensive side feed aftermarket rails or buy new top feed injectors and a new rail.

Welding is something I thoroughly enjoy. its just a hobby, but like anything the more you are able to practice the more comfortable you grow with it.

Man, not only is this setup more effective, it looks so much better. How much would I have to pay you to do this to my fuel rail? Haha

I think I have another fuel rail around here somewhere. I can Tig the stainless AN fittings on mine for you for 100 bucks (if you buy the fittings) That would include me powder coating the rail as well.

that's not bad. i would but i dont have an application for it on my stock ka other than aesthetics. but maybe if i save up i could. i actually have a fuel rail laying in my garage too. how much would you charge if i supplied the fuel rail, and the fittings?
