Hey all...I have a dual exhaust setup and I was wondering if this effects the emissions test, since they only put the sensor up on pipe....

My system splits just after the cat Just like in my avatar....

Does anyone know?

I have been going thru my car trying to fix the small stuff that caused me to fail the dyno/sniffer check last weekend.....:help

This is a totally retarded question, but considering I come from a place where we couldn't give two poops about our air quality (aka Texas) I have never had to deal with a sniffer.

Anyway, they put your car on a dyno to do it? Do they give you the HP readings and stuff :D

Dude...don't get tested in Houston...That is where I am....why don't you do a little background checking before voicing your ignorance. :)

As for it being retarded...Why do you say that...if the sniffer is looking for a certain amount of exhaust gas flow out of a 2.4 liter motor, but is only getting half, I am wondering if it could cause a high reading....

I would think the opposite, If its looking for X amount of exhaust gas, and its only reading half.. I would think that would lower the reading.

Tho the system is probably more based on percentage of chemicals in the gas, thereby not effected by dual exhaust.

Thanks cyberkreig,

That is what I was wondering.....

I guess I will put my Stock ECU back in and try again....

Maybe the JWT ecu is dumping too much fuel in...

Hold on a gall dang darn minute here! :) I wasn't saying that *you* were retarded but that *I* was because I have absolutely no clue about emissions testing. I was asking what kind of dyno they put your car on, is it just something with rollers so they can run it through the gears or something?

BTW: I would NEVER get my car inspected in Houston, hell I don't even get it inspected here in College Station. I drive back home to Victoria and have it done there because I know of a place where I can just go get a sticker :D

EDIT: Also, will you by chance be going to the Jspek thing on the 18th of May? I will be there and I will be swapped by then if you want to hook up or something...

Sorry man....I am beyond strung out on this emissions Nazi BS here in Houston..... :thinker

Yes....

They put your car on a dyno/resistance roller and run it at 15MPH in second under the load from the rollers... WTF?!?!?!? 15mph in 2nd?!?!? ] That is the "Low Speed" test...

Then run 25 MPH in 3rd.....[again...WTF?!?!?!?!?]That is the "High Speed Test" [25 mph is High Speed?]

All the time with a sniffer up it's tail pipe...

As for the Jspec meet...it depends on...A. getting the ***** to pass emissions testing for my inspection sticker...B. getting a clutch in it, because mine is heading south at a rapid rate...

But if I can go...I will try!

Good luck on your swap!

Well...I failed emissions again today...so thanks to the ****ing inbred laws aimed at the middle class of america...I now have a 240SX paper weight...

While millions of illegal immigrants cruise around in smoke belching, gas drinking POS vans and SUV's, my 35 MPG 240SX will no be legal on the road due to a bull**** roller test that puts the car in a range that no one in their right mind drives in...

Time to get the **** out of Texas

No, don't leave Texas. All you have to do is register your car outside of Harris County. Hell Go register your car in DeWitt county, they won't ask you anything and all you need is a PO Box to send yer mail to. Then you are scott free to stay in H-Town. Too bad you don't go to school at Blinn or A&M, you could register your car here...
