This pass monday a few friends and i took on this dual exh cam swap on , on my car.got it done the the second day because i broke a bolt -_-

First time i miss counted the teeth. And it wouldnt start, i ended up finding that i need a new cap and rotor. Went back and recheck'd the cams turned it one tooth back and fired it up.

Now that i have new cap and rotor and msd blaster coil it starts up fine only thing is.

My car shakes and vibrates like mad. Also i cant seem to get it to idle properly, its like it has its own agenda it will be fine i wont have to worry about it dying when slowing down and then some times i have to heal toe when slowing down.

The timing is right, but now also my dist is arcing some where on the inside.

I want my car to idle normally and quit shaking ill get some video thru my cell phone tomorrow of how bad it shakes.

Could it be that i may still have to rotate the cam gear 1 more tooth back did i mess up that much? I'll except the fact that i screwed up.or hell do i just need new mounts??

help please i will keep bumping this till i reslove this issue

also forgot to add that when i take off theirs like a flat spot in my rpm from like 1 to 2 k it moves but like theirs no power behind it .

wow man you do have issues...first off , if your arching around inside your dist...id start there...it is possible something metallic is grounding out and cousing misfire or pre-ignition..this would definitly make your motor shake and run odd...post again when ya take a deeper look there...and ill post back after i reaserch some..this has peek'd my interest a bunch.

ok update.

I went and pulled the whole distributor to make sure their was no metal inside, and when i put it back inside it didnt go in the same way. So now the car didnt start, we tried moving the dist to get it back i thinking we just made it worse. Finally i decided to toss the stock cam back in got everything tight and we still cant get the dist right any one got any suggestions on it now lol

its been over a year, since my car has ran right. Im at a loss of what to do i have the timing dead on and it still does not start. My cams are postioned the right way i followed the jim wolf article my dist is dead on my firing order is correct. Ive got a rebuilt head on it new head gasket new intake manifold gasket, new valve cover gasket, new upper cam shaft chain tension-er, ITs set on compression stroke. The pulley is set to the second to last notch on the left side. I have fuel and spark i checked for spark early todayFuel well you can smell it from all the times not starting. My car just cranks but wont turn on. Im at a blank im going to try and do a compression test tomorrow. If i have to ill tear off my head again but god knows i dont want to do that currently going to school, this car is wreaking havoc on my sleep. I have a new battery also and as of now my starter seems to be staying on longer when i stop trying to start it .....Ive tried moving the dist over a tooth and nothing it just sounds like it wants to start but doesn't so ill reset it back to stock. To make things worse im sure things have only gotten worse because before my car would at least turn on and run like poo and now it doesnt turn on ......

Need to get it running now that my family is down to one car since i totalled my blazer, this car has to be running. Please shoot any thoughts

sorry fo the wall of txt need help

side note im no longer doing the dual exhaust cam swap this is all on stock 91ka cams

In order to make your timing correct..........take off your valve cover get 21mm socket and turn crankshaft until you reach top deadcenter ..look back at the camshafts make sure the lobes are pointing outwards(away from eachother) after you have done that......put valve cover back on.....take dist. cap off .......then take out dist. and out it back in but try to land the rotor at number one sparkplug wire.......the number one wire should be your ten o'clock
