Dual climate control with aftermarket double din

Has anybody figured out how to get around the installation of a double din without messing around with the creature comforts... Dual climate control options? I like those and so does my wife. However, I want to watch movies in my car too.

I think it has to do with the replacement bezel/climate control. Whoever designed it, wasn't thinking.

It seems to me, that it would be easy to reroute the system somewhere else, but I have too many other projects to deal with. I don't need to add another one.

I recall there is a way to do it. Its been a while since I seen it, but basically, you add the button onto the new board. IIRC, it was rather easy, but the details escape me...

I've already said why in another thread. From the factory, the climate controls and the HU come wired together on the same circuit board. In order to install an aftermarket HU, you need to separate the two in order for it to work.

As C-Kwik mentioned, you can add the button on the replacement board...it just requires a little bit of soldering.

I saw a double din with the dual climate button on ebay. When I came back it was sold already. It was jdm though. Sent the seller a email, and he said that they wouldn't get anymore from the factory for a couple of months.

You can use your own button of the old unit.

I was also thinking of doing a double din and like the fact that my old ac controller looks more realistic than the rubbery looking ones. Thought I could take the one out and put it in the Metra double din.

you dont have to there is a chip that you have to buy and solder in to the aftermarket dash kit if you got the one that comes with the ac controller i forget the site but i know it is on the japanese domestic market there is a dealership in texas that imports this part .....
