DTC Code Po174

My mechanic says say I need a need catalytic convertor. I'm not sure if i trust him on this one. Could it be something else?

P0174 is US drivers side running lean. FSM says these causes for P0174:

Intake air leaks
Heated O2 Sensor 1
Injector
Exhaust gas leaks
Incorrect fuel pressure
lack of fuel
mass air flow sensor
Incorrect PCV hose connection

Not a word about the cat. It does have about eight pages of how to figure out WHICH of the above it is.
