I know but it just really burns me up when people who know nothing about what they are talking about spew ignorance from their mouth. More people who nothing about it either will listen and believe them. Then we have lots of people talking trash on a car that they know nothing about. It just really burns me up. The reason I found that site is b/c my brother owns a 1st gen AWD turbo talon and he showed it to me. My bro was a non believer too. Then I took him for a drive and showed just what a 240 can do ;).

Idiots. Especially that Heavy D guy. The KA can only rev to 5K and gets passed by Civics and Saturns? BS! Let him drive the 240 with the NSport or GReddy kit and its a whole lot better than a DSM. Those great DSMs also seem to fall apart more often. They think they know it all, but what can ya say? DSMs are the ****! I wouldnt mind owning one but, I aint got the $ to keep up the maintence.

I love DSM's, I wont comment on their reliability because thats the kind of internet rumor and sterotyping that makes people sound stupid. All I know is they are cheap and there are alot of fast ones out there.

I agree, but the reason I said that is that I heart from a lot of DSM owners around where I live and on the net that they can be a ***** when is comes to things breaking. I also love them and they definately can be made very fast for cheap.

If the SR was in a truck I bet there would be alot of people who couldt say anything about the ka engine being slow because its a truck engine. That heavy D fella is just bias. He sounds like a JDM tuner at heart though with no real scientific Engine theory behind his back. He might be able to pull it apart and put it back together but that doesnt mean he knows whats going on when combustion in the engine happens.

i was actually impressed...there were a lot of open-minded and unbiased opinions....just a couple dumbasses that are speaking out of their ***.....heavy d said his brother has had a 240 for sale for 2 years and no takers...HA....yeah right...it must be a pos...he said it won't rev past 5k.....so his opinion is based on driving a broke down 240.....and then probably exagerated also.......but for the most part most of those guys represented the 240 and the SR quite well i thought.

arg...

can't get to that site from work...

i'll say this though. I own a 92 Talon TSI AWD. it's a 6 bolt motor with a 4 bolt rear. the strongest combo you can get with those suckers.

This is not Internet Heresay, it's coming from experienceI've had tons of issues with it, injectors dying, MAF's crapping out, TPS acting up, Blowing a hole in my transmission, eating clutches, IC pipes randomly coming off, rear tire wear(worse than a 240).... I could go on and on. I know a few people that drive theirs daily, but for the most part they are a PITA. i don't tend to beat on mine too often, but I can count the days that it's been in perfect running order since i've had it on 2 hands. sure they put down tons of PAR, but a 240 will out handle them, and win on the power to weight ratio. To it's credit, the car did manage 8.86 in the 1/8th on stock injectors and 17 pounds from a 14b, but it doesn't matter when the power cant get to the ground cause it's on jackstands most of the time. I kid you not, I have divots in my concrete from letting it sit on it's roost.

Now, with all that said, i now own two S14's. Anyone wanna buy a talon? ;)

Ok, PROJECT beat me to the first quote that made me laugh audibly, but the constant display of ignorance about the whole "truck engine" thing is freakin' hilarious. Hmm...who would win in almost any type of race (short of Rally) between a stock S13 and NA FWD DSM? That's right.

Oh, and this one left me in stitches...The 4g63 is down right the greatest and strongest 4 banger in the world.

Oh sh1t...I'm having trouble breathing...

I think its great how people undermine our cars.. think about the next time one of them gets smoked by a "lowly" 240sx that can only rev to "5" grand ; )

THE 4G63 SCREAMS CRANK WALK GREATER THAN 10MM......

ONE THING I CAN SAY IS THAT YOU CAN GET ALOT OF POWER OUT OF A 4G63 FOR REALATIVELY CHEAP BUT THEY ARE BY NO MEANS THE GREATEST 4 CYL. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IN MY PERSONAL OPINION IT WOULD BE THE EJ20TT OR THE NEW EJ25T.

correction: 7bolt 4g63's crankwalk. pre-92 had 6 bolts, and were relatively stout. I've got an ACT 2600 on it w/ no probs on that aspect.

What a useless waste of a thread. Pls dont try to illustrate the ignorant asses on the internet anymore. We know they are out there. We have plenty here too. This was utterly unconstructive.

Not a complete waste by any means..I learned a few minor things about DSMs, and someone else learned what a DSM was. Granted pointing out jackasses badmouthing something you like isn't constructive, but neither was your reply. Like criticising a critic.. You weren't forced to read it either. No need for the hate. Let's just have the thread locked and be done before this gets ugly..

I don't see it getting ugly, i kind of appreciate the chance to clear some things up. I'm sure i can dispel most misconceptions about DSM's if anyone has any more questions. If i don't know it off the top of my head, i'm sure i can find it... you get good at researching how to fix stuff when you own one ;)

yeah its just ignorance, i LOVE dsm's used to own a turbo awd 1st gen and my family (namely mother and sister) drive 2nd gens...great looking cars (1st gen look better in my opinion but females tend to pick 2nd gens) and really arent that bad reliability wise as long as you dont drive them hard, but once you do everything but that gem of a motor tends to fall apart...theres pros and cons to every car like this so why not learn to enjoy them all :) (even some of the seriuosly fast hondas..yes they do exist)

Diamond Star Motors, if I am not mistaken. See the picture of their logo for an explanation..
