Hello, to everyone!I have searched but found nothing, unfortunately.

I have a 1st generation DSM BOV and I have a problem with it.When I shift it makes this sound like it's not letting all air out at once but in little portions (ftss-ftss-ftss-ftss instead of whoooooshssss) I'm sure it's not the sound of air coming out, it's compressor surge. I have checked all vacuum connections, it's connected to the brake booster line, and it's fine. My boost gauge reads 17-20 Vac. at idle.I have removed the valve itself to see if it opens at idle, and it actually does with not problems at all. Then I removed the hose that goes back into intake pipe to see if the hose itself is a restriction, but all I got was the same sound (ftss-ftss-ftss-ftss)I don't know what to think, my turbo is damaged because it was surging for the past 3 monthes and I thought that it was just a specific sound of Mitsubishi BOV. Stupid hah?

What you guys think, could it be the size of the valve itself?Mishka.

not the size of the valve, I ran a 1g DSM bov on my setup w/ a T04e @ 12psi and it worked great. The problem lies elsewhere, does the valve open and move freely if you push on it? Is it opening all the way or just cracking?

I have removed the valve again, started the car and when the valve sees vacuum it opens. When I try to push it further in, it still has about 1/4 -3/8 inch that it can go inside. Is it bad valve?I thought that if diafragm is damaged the valve shouldn't open at all, am I right. I have sprayed WD-40 inside the BOV but it still opens half way under vacuum.

And I now have it connected to two vacuum sources, still with the same result.

No need to crush it, I run anly 8-9 psi and DSM BOV aren't leaking till about 15 psi. The gap is at 0.028 right now, it couldn't be the problem. Car idles normaly, does not missfire doesn't die when I let the gas off. It just the valve that doesn't open wide enough to let all the pressure out. That's what I think.Any more ideas?

Hello again.I hope that this info would be useful for someone at some point.I have found the problem after I bought a new BOV from Mitsubishi. My old one turned out to be in great working order and big enough for KA24DE, the problem was that I used "Liquid Gasket" and it completely cloged the ventelation hole. When I was inspecting the valve a few weeks ago I didn't see the hole because it was covered by very thick layer of that "Liquid Gasket". After I cleaned it, and took the car for a test drive I could finally hear that "whooooooosh" sound I was so dreaming about!

So to sum up: 1st gen. DSM BOV is big and sufficient enough for a KA24DE running 8psi. Just don't use "Liquid Gasket" on it.Mishka.
