I rock a Pentax K10D, it's rather vintage in DSLR terms.infinitedrift wrote:yes the IS body is def better, those pics in my thread were taken on a tripod with IS off, but with it on its amazing too.The shutter speed on "hi" is pretty damn fast for a begginer SLR. I have taken tons of fast moving pics of dogs and other animals while in motion and its like they were standing still. About the canon lenses being interchangable, that was the kicker for me when i was reading about them. I was in love with canon/nikon quality and still am but the lense thing killed it for me...check out pentaxforum.com for more info. The new Pentax is the Kr with just faster shutter speed and crazy colors.
It's getting old so I'm in the market for a newer camera myself.
I looked up the K-R, I wonder if it's the same sensor/software as the K-5 (albeit "detuned" to 12mp) but in a cheaper body?
The K-5 has the same sensor and processing software as the Nikon D7000 (which is sold out everywhere--for good reason). It's a badass camera.
The only thing that makes the Nikon better is the ability to grow within the system which is why I'm leaning towards that as I plan to use it more professionally--that and the video is slightly better (although I care little about video). Otherwise, the K-5 outclasses the D7000 in terms of FPS, IS, and the weather sealing.
My only tiff with the lower priced Canons is the use of plastic bodies.. I find it disconcerting.
http://www.pbase.com is a great site to check out photos taken from all sorts of camera bodies or lenses that users have uploaded (there's a list of manufacturers)
