Has anyone read the new SCC mag? I saw the GTR blew up due to oil starvation. Sounds like the oiling might be an issue with our cars, so I've been looking into dry sump systems.

I just wrote http://www.drysump.com/price.htm to see what they thought about developing a system for our motors. Does anyone know anything about developing one of these systems?

Actually from what I read, the Rb26dett's are the only ones with an oil starvation problem, but also the other rb motors arent used as much in competition.

I am talking with Gary Armstrong from that company, and he will let me know soon what he can do for these motors. So far he thinks the 280Z pan might work. I had never heard that they were a similar, but he is going to check with Nissan on this one he said. I offered to send him a pan if it doesn't work out. Regardless if it works or not, it is worth looking into I think.

For serious track, drag or any other type of racing dry sump is the best. Wet sump just can't compare. It also allows you to mount the engine lower (in some cases) and lower the center of gravity, which can improve handling as well.

This is kind of an old thread, but I have decided to go with an oil accumulator instead of developing a dry sump setup. Might be worth looking into for anyone doing serious track work with their RB.
