Doesnt the RB25 already have some sort of external oil drain? I see something like that on the exhaust side of the block/head....more towards the front

Hey guys...im draggin this back up to the top....im getting close to begin fab on the oil system. I think I am going with:

Custom pan3 stage pumplines, etc

Just thought id give a heads up....anyone have any ideas of how to attach a drive pulley to my crank pulley?

Get an ATI dampner. It would be verry hard to put a pully on your stock one and keep it in balance.

Cool project!

You might already have this planned but you might want to gusset those plates the radius members up front are mounted to on that tube... they'll fatigue over time and possibly crack off the way they are I'd imagine...

I am currently building a full on track car...its an s14 and im using an RB. For better weight distribution and using a vmount radiator/IC setup, I have relocated the engine roughly 3.5 inches backwards and intend to lower the engine roughly 1.5 inches. The only real issue I have faced thus far in my endeavors is the oil pan! It wont clear the subframe anymore with the motor placed so far rearward...so Im doing the responsible thing, and going dry sump...got to be the best solution to my fitment issue that i have come up with. I intend to make my own pan, bracketry etc for this setup, but I was curious if anyone has any ideas on how close an rb25 oil sys is to that of the 26? If any of the 26 setups might be adaptable to the 25. If not, ill get my own setup going, but I thought id check. If anyone has any pictures of any rb2x setups, Id love to see! Here is my rig for anyone who has their curiosity getting to them

a rear sump pan may work for you. I have a a custom pan to fit the RB26/Rb25 AWD conversion motors that may work for you. Also I hop you have checked with the people you plan to race with as MOST of them do not allow you to move the motor back... Good luck on you project...

FAST, any pics of this pan you say you have? Ill prob just build my own, but for sure Id like to see what youve got. Also, I am aware of some stringent SCCA rules, but it will be ok for what I want it for, which is mostly FUN...open track days and drift days should be no problem!

About the ATI damper, it seems like a decent solution but it is very costly...I might try to make a pulley for the oil pump when i get one that can run off the oem crank pulley, the groove for the AC is available since im not running anything of that sort!

awsome looking...looks like it is about an 1'' to an 1 1/2'' in debth at the deep end... are you worried about the oil getting hung up on the non suctoin side during high g loads, mybe a windiage tray to keep the oil at the suction point... also did you just modify the stock oil pan to fit....

Well...i thought about it, but with the suction inside of the engine due to the pump, im not sure that it will be an issue...that thought had occurred to me....so far though i wasnt going to make any windage tray.

looking good man. the pan is alot like the way i invisioned mine but i had a drop down lip area on the suction side. kind of like a square dropout. i saw a really nice moroso 2jz drysump pan that had it and thought it was a good idea, because it seems it would allow oil to pool up on the suction side and possible provide a less eratic supply of oil to be scavenged. heres the link http://www.moroso.com/photo_gallery.asp

K, looks like i will need to mod the pan a bit as i missed about 1/8th inch the clearance around the mains, lol! Also, my -12An steel fittings came so I can finish the pan off.

I do however have a few questions about running this system, mostly about supplying the oil. So, I plan on scavenging from 3 ports on the pan, which go back thru the pump, out of the pump, into a 3 to 1 manifold, with a single return to the oil tank. Thats all great and fine, I get that part. For the pressure, there is a line from the bottom of the tank, that supplies oil to the pump and then a pressure like out. Here is where my question lies.... So I can feed thru the port where the old oil filter used to be with an adapter, or i can modify the stock pump (pull freeze plug and use an AN fitting) and gut it to use that. If I do gut the stock pump, what do I do with old OEM filter area? If I use the OEM filter area as my oil inlet, what do i do with the OEM pump?

regardless of what you do you will need to block the hole the oil pickup bolts up to. but if you feed in through the oil filter port then you can just gut the pump and leave it. i actually planned on feeding it through the gutted pump because it would cut out alot of hosing that would be needed to go from the A/C bracket spot over to the oil filter port. but you may be mounting your pump differntly. if you feed through the gutted pump you could either machine a part to just cap the oil filter area off or you could run a oil cooler from it. i'd prolly just cap it off so you can have one less thing crowding the area under the intake.

Hey man im doin a dry sump on a 26 can you tell me what you used for the block off plate and tell me all the problems you encounterd. i noticed on your pics that you have a oil supply line into the stock pump and you also have on into the back of the engine?? is that right. just want as much input during this build up thanks
