Isn't dry ice just frozen carbon dioxide or something like that? I know for sure its a something that sublimes at room temperature, but can't remember for sure if its CO2.

Yup. It is CO2 in its solid state, which can only be acheived at a certain very low temperature. When warmed, the solid CO2 returns to its gaseous form, bypassing the liquid stage, and gives off the fun fog that has made dry ice so fun.

Dry ice sounds like it's the way to go. I did mine with a heat gun and a lot of sweat, blood and profanity! The end result was worth it though. Notice in my pic that I also completely rewired the interior harness to pass through the frame instead of snaking around the cabin.......

BOOM!

they just sell it by the pound

and if you have any left overs, smash it into pieces with a hammer then put it in a 20oz soda bottle with a little cold water, cap it, and watch the fun begin (stand back!)

Hahaha, cool. I want to try that. Hmm, might be able to use that somehow. Imagining a 2 liter bottle, some dry ice, some eggs, and toilet paper, eh throw in some sulfur for good fun.

all you need for that stunt is some vinegar and baking soda...Or for that matter, any acid + base combination.

Oh and while you are at it, try mixing brake fluid with axle grease! Its much quicker too

The acid base combo won't have nearly the same gas expasion rate as dry ice subliming. Unless of course I go with industrial strength stuff, but that will only get dangerous (acid and base spewing all over).

yeah, a 20oz will swell to about the size of a 2 liter, we sunk one off the local boat dock and when it blew, it looked like a depth charge from a movie, water went EVERYWERE, maby 2o feet high. muriatic acid (HCI) and alluminum foil will do the trick too, you can also use toilet boul cleaner in place of the acid but that takes maby an hour to react.

another thing you might consider is if you could find liquid nitrogen anywere, it would come right off, just pour that on and hit it with a hammer, the tar would shatter into pieces that you could just pick up and throw away, dont know how hard it might be for you to find that though

So how do I use dry ice on the tar? Just put it on until it freezes and hit it with a hammer?

I assume you are talking about the mat that is under the seats, right?

Yes do PLEASE impart your knowledge to us on how to use dry ice to get this crap off. It's ugly as sin!

thats all i have been seeing people do. They dump a **** load of dry ice. They wait... then they start breaking it and taking it away with a hammer

One person hit to hard and made a dent in his floor board....

Dry ice is extremely cold, -109 degrees F (-78 degrees C). Avoid contact with skin and eyes; use gloves and safety glasses in handling. Do not ingest. Keep away from children. Dry ice expands as it changes from a solid to a gas. Do not keep in stoppered or tightly closed containers. Store in a safe place away from people. Be sure storage area has adequate ventilation. Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is 1.5 times as heavy as air and can collect in low lying areas. Carbon dioxide can cause asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen, and in sufficient concentrations is toxic. Never lay down in dry ice fog or any other fog. Always provide adequate ventilation to low lying areas such as basements. Provide adequate ventilation in automobiles during transport.

a lil bit of safety since I deal with this every day at work.

burning part... is 100% true. A box of dry ice was found on the floor of the lunch room when i was in 4th grade. A group of us took hand full of it and threw it into urinals and toliets.

But god damn that **** hurts
