Ok, before I go wastin' anymore money this week, my dad was telling me that if its hott out ( 90 or so ) like it is here in denver, and I wash my car, and put dry ice on the dents ( from hail ) that they will come out....Is it true and will it work?

google searches are super sweet:

http://www.vintageairstream.co....html

http://members.cox.net/gadget/dentremoval.htm

Eh that's just a couple. No telling how reliable the sources are, but most of what I read said it works sometimes, doesnt work other times. Either way I didnt read anything about how it might hurt your car, so why not try it?

PS dont wash your car before you put the ice on it... the whole point is that it go from hot to cold (or vice-versa) quickly... washing the car down with cool water would definetly slow that process down.

i saw something like this on monster garage where he used a torch and regular ice to try to make some warping in the body panels to come out he just made it much worse. but it might work easier on things like dents because theyre so small.

monster garage is a bunch of bs... watch the first one with the New Beetle, it was a big topic on a bug site, the state it is like a 99 or something, but than the mirrors magicly go from a pre 01 model to a 01+ model..HMM we noticed alot of stuff they forgot to mention!

who cares what year it was? it was a beattle for god's sake there is absolutly no time or effort that should be put into research on what model year it was. that would just be a big waste of time when u think about what u r doing

why dont you just try out the pos a dent system that is seen on tv? Its almost the same price that you would pay for a big block of dry ice. The only place in orlando that sells it charges 15 bucks for a phone book size piece. not bad I guess. Lasts for like 24 hours which is pretty cool.

That pos dent remover thing sucks. It didn't pop out one of my dents. My buddy said it was awesome cause it helped his car alot, and my dent is at an awkward angle, but it still didnt' remove it. Oh well

you wouldn't buy it in a block size. You would buy it in pellets and the **** is cheap like maybe 1-2 dollars a pound. I remember I got 15lbs of dry ice for a halloween party and had smoking whoop juice it was great.

the smaller pellets would work a hell of a lot better then a block because you can put a single pellet in the dent not a chipped off chunk

and with the dry ice left over you can't make bombs with it out of 2 liter bottles filled with water and many cry ice pellets in it ;)

it works by the dry ice turning from a highly compressed solid into a gas which is much less compressed so it creates a lot of pressure in the bottle and the bottle blows up but how are you supposed to know when its gonna blow? hehe sounds like fun though

im a pro at this lol, the bottle starts to expand pretty rapidly (in a liter or 20 oz bottle) and it goes BOOM, if u put a lot of dry ice it will explode from the bottom and sky rocket. Im bored at work so i have fun with dry ice sumtimes lol.

The dry ice on dents dose work, but the size and depth of the dintcan play a really big facter too how well it will work. I am a combination welder in a fab shop, and we do use dry ice on some welds (manely aluminum) to control warping. We do this trick (it is more trick then trade) during TIG welding!Let me repeat(DURING) the welding process. As for a dent that has been there for some time on already formed metel. Ya right!!! You need more heat then what the sun will give you and you WILL most likely f*$# up your body work..... best get it pinged out..............
